Tonight's events kept running through my mind, it all went as I expected with a few things that were out of my control that would be with Star. I could sense something not quite right with her, the grin upon Dahlia face brought my concerns as she was relishing this side to Star. I knew that my fears wouldn't stay around too long, with Dahlia agreement to link myself with her our plan was going to be completed. Both of my children were both content while all this was going on around them, unknown to them that there was a great threat before them. From the moment I held them in my arms when they were born I vowed to protect them both with all cost, I intend never to break that promise. If that means turning on those who stood beside me for a thousand years so be it, if it means turning on my daughter mother so be it, in the end it's a father's nature to protect their children assuring no predators can harm them.

We had stopped at Orchard in the middle of the Bayou, both Star and I are leaning against the parked truck, where Chance and Hope is sitting quietly in their car seats in the trunk. Next to them is Freya's unconscious body, which brought some concern to me in why Dahlia had insisted to take her, I could see Star sharing the same concerns. The both of us watched as Dahlia had set up a small table, on which she has created an infinity symbol with salt and lit candles, where two small pewter chalices sit within each circle in preparation for her linking spell. She had been doing this for hours, I could see that the more time kept passing the more Star looked uncertain about what needed to be done. She kept giving that look to say I can't do this I know I asked a lot from her but this final act that she needed to do was vital.

"You're both quiet. Are you having misgivings?" Dahlia questioned breaking me out of my trail of thoughts, I had to remind myself that this was part of the plan that it was to stop Dahlia once and for all.

"I was just looking for a polite way to ask. What the hell is taking so long?" I looked at her smirking, was Dahlia having doubts? She had been doing this spell for hours, more time that past the more I began to feel anxious about this all. How Star behaved was playing heavily on my mind, the way that it pleased Dahlia of how much power she could possibly have.

"Well, we can begin now." Dahlia gestures at the table where she been at for the last few hours, the smirk wipes off of my face, I glance at Star who stood protectively in front of the children. Dahlia smiles at the both of us, visibly pleased about everything going in her way. "Once we're linked, I'll no longer have to sleep a hundred years again. Your concerns for my status will ease, and I'll finally be able to focus on Chance and Star." She looks over at Chance, who is still sitting quietly in the car, as I turned to look at my son, he turns his head to look at me there was something about the way he looked at me in that moment like he sense what was going on around him. A father is only capable of giving what he has, and what he knows. A good father gives all of himself that is good, that is what I intend to do, sacrifice myself in order to keep the three of them from harm. I watched as Dahlia walks toward Chance and Star. "I will only need one drop of his blood—" Star blocked her from coming any closer to both Chance and Hope and giving her a patronizing smile. "—And then his power shall be mine also." I looked into the backseat, where Freya still lays unconscious.

"What do you want to do about Freya?" I wanted to know what she had planned for her, she had obviously taken her for some reason.

"She served her purpose." She looks up at the moon, which is in its waning crescent phase. "So, tomorrow night, at the moon's apex, I'll end her life, and once our link is severed, the bond that I share with your son and wife will become permanent." I could see that Star was not pleased about Dahlia's reaction or her plan in general, even though Star felt deeply betrayed by Freya she wouldn't her life to be ended. Between the both of us we had ensure that didn't happen, I turn back to face Dahlia doing my best to keep my intentions concealed by smiling at her.
