Overused plots

Let's just get right into this shit.

Don't fucking write the same story 2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 other people have already written.

It's one thing if you want to use a specific plot. That's totally chill. It's when people write THE SAME DAMN THING AS 50 OTHER PEOPLE that pisses me off.
Do you know how many high school au's there are for davekat? 70 bajillion including my own. In any of them was Karkat a cheerleader? No. That's how you use a recurring plot but twist it to make it unique. Want to do a vampire au? Go for it. Just make it different. Want to do a meteor fic? Make it interesting.

DONT WRITE THE SAME DAMN FIC WITH THE SAME DAMN FIRST CHAPTER AS EVERYONE ELSE.

And sadstuck stories? Some of them have some major plot twists that leave you crying as you think, "Wtf where did that come from?"
That's what you want.
What's the fun in reading a slightly different version of the same fic?
Answer: there is zero appeal. So don't do it.
The point of writing is to be creative. It's great to take ideas from other people, but only if you can bend them to make it your own.

Rant over for now.
