She went downstairs to get rid of the cake her brother boldly rejected. Anubhav wasn't an unreasonable man, he was just hurt that his sister chose her friends over him on her birthday.
Kiara was furious. Her birthday had been perfect till she got home. She didn't know Anubhav was so mad at her. She didn't even care that her own brother didn't wish her. She was too fascinated by her friends and the surprise they planned.
When Kiara got downstairs, seven dogs came running at her, barking loudly. She wasn't afraid of dogs. She tried to shoo them away, but they didn't budge. They kept coming at her. When she didn't run for her life as they expected, they gave up and left.
She ran upstairs crying 'cause the whole incident brought shudders to her. Her mom and brother were shouting at each other as they understood what happened. Her mom ran to Kiara and found her hidden under her quilt. Kiara was shivering and sobbing heavily. Her mom asked if she got bitten, she didn't answer.
Her mom tried to shove aside the hair falling in Kiara's face and she got scared. She thought her mom was going to slap her.
"Don't hit me mom, I'm really scared", she admitted and started crying.
Her mother hugged her but it was too late. She already had gone under a panic attack. She kept mumbling about a man standing outside her window. She didn't want Anubhav to leave her alone as the man might come and rape her.
Her mom gave her two tablets of alprazolam and she drifted off to sleep after forty five minutes of endless panicking.
They had no idea what just happened but that incident changed the lives of all three of them.
