Tragic Truth

“Hey Alexis, um…I know it’s none of my business but are you planning on talking to Jack anytime soon?” Alfie asked. There was a hint of worry in his face. “I’m just asking because I talked to Jack yesterday and he seems really down and it’s pretty obvious why.”

“I don’t know. I know that Jack and Finn haven’t been on good terms since the party and I don’t want to make it any worse by upsetting Finn. I’m worried that he will do something or say something he might regret later on. But um…how upset is Jack exactly?” I asked worried.

“He’s really messed up. He has dark circles under his eyes as though he hasn’t slept in a while and he just seems down. He has almost no energy and that’s saying something for Jack. He’s always the life of any conversation.” Alfie explained and I didn’t know how to respond. “No pressure though. I was just hoping that if you’d talk to him, he would get back to his normal self.” Alfie said before he started walking towards his room.

“Alfie wait! Tell Jack to meet me at Hyde Park in an hour. I wanna sort some things out and I hate knowing that someone is sad because of me.”

“Alright. I’ll text him right now.” a big smile came on his face but then it slowly faded. I could tell that he really cared for Jack and therefore wanted me to help Jack get better but at the same time, he probably felt a bit guilty for pushing me towards Jack even though I’m with Finn.

JACKS POV

I was happy to hear that I was finally going to get to see Lexi after 2 painfully long days. I desperately needed to explain to her how much better I am for her than my brother. Did I feel guilty for talking bad about Finny? Of course! But at the same time, all is fair in love and war.

When I saw her walking towards me, I felt my heart skip a beat. She looked absolutely gorgeous and I could feel a large smile pop up on my face. “Hi Jack!” she greeted me.

“Hello Lexi.”

“Lexi?” she giggled. “You call me Lexi? Only Jason and my…”

“Grandparents call you Lexi. I know.  You told me that the day you asked me to call you Lexi. You said that only the people closest to you call you that. That you prefer it to your longer name.” I confidently said as she smiled at how much I knew about her.

“Yeah. Well um, I’m here because Alfie says that you haven’t been yourself lately.” She explained.

“Its true. I haven’t able to get much sleep and I just don’t have as much energy anymore. But theres only one thing that can change this. You.”

“Me?”

“Yes you.” I walked closer to her to the point where I was right in front of her. “You can change this by leaving Finn and being with me again.” She didn’t respond so I kept talking. “Part of me wants my brother to be happy, but then theres the other part that wont allow it because im worried that he will hurt you.”

“Finn would never hurt me!” she exclaimed.

“Don’t be so sure Lexi. You know, you’re not the first girl that he has ever said “I Love You!” to. Nope. And the crazy thing is that no matter how many times he said it, he was always the one to break up with his girlfriends. He has never been one for long lasting relationships. He’s more about sex and fun moments but never about a real relationship.”

“Jack Stop! I know you say that I loved you once but that was then. The tragic truth is that I don’t remember you or the moments that we may have spent together. All I know is that I love Finn now and Im not leaving him for anything! So take your sour attempt to make me leave Finn somewhere else because it won’t work.”
