SILAS
"I'm going to Victor's tomorrow. " Sang announced, totally unaware of what was to come after the meeting.
The others nodded in approval and I saw Victor grin. I was happy for him.
She would forever be my angel because I could live with her being someone else's muse.
I breifly wondered where I would take her to show her what I did on my days off.
The thought of her drowning in the blue fabric of one of my plumbing coveralls made grin but also worry. She could not think that unclogging a drain was as appealing as Victor composing music for her.
She was on top of North and I at the moment, her head leaning against my shoulder and snuggled underneath one of my arms like I was half way hugging her. She was dwarfed by us, the two biggest guys in the group, but somehow it only made her more appealing, more reachable.
North held her feet in lap, one hand on her ankle, the other on her toes. He occasionally rubbed them, making Sang react by sighing and relaxing deeper in my arms. The way North paid attention to the meeting it was obvious that he had no clue.
"North," I whispered to gain his attention, "Trípste ta pódia tou tis."
He waited a moment so not to raise her suspicion, then massaged his hands on the toes again and suppressed a smile at the instant reaction.
I turned from his smug look and used my free hand to run my hand through her hair.
Her eyes started to close and I felt her relax further. It was odd to have someone fall asleep in your lap, to feel their breathing get deeper and know that they trust you enough to keep them safe when they woke up.
There were fewer honors greater than knowing that you had earned that intimacy through trust, especially when it was someone as delicate and beautiful as Aggele mou.
Sang yawned, her whole body stretching and relaxing soon after. North looked down with an odd expression; her feet had twitched out of his hold and gone into dangerous territory. I pitied him.
Kota's eyes met mine to see if Sang was far enough gone to end the meeting, then he gave a nod to Mr. B to wrap up the meeting.
"Would anyone like to convene in private?" He asked, more out of tradition than anything else. He knew as well as everyone else that things had been running smoother than they every had with Sang's soft influence sinking into everyone's life.
When no one replied Luke turned off the lights and Nathan grabbed a thick blue blanket from its place on the chair.
"It's her favorite." He whispered when Gabe huffed at the loud strawberry stain that decorated its surface.
I rolled my eyes. Gabe didn't allow stained fabrics in his house or let us hold onto a stained shirt without a good reason. For Sang, though, he was warm putty.
The others focused on the movie or playing some sort of silent charades with Mr. B and Kota while I held Sang as she drifted off into sleep.
Sang had told me one day that she loved my hugs because they made her feel safe. I liked making her feel good because her happiness fueled my own, a beautiful side effect of loving her with all of my being.
I also liked holding her.
I watched her sweet lips relax into a gentle pucker as she drifter into slumber, her breaths becoming deeper as she fell into her dreams. I hoped that they were happy tonight.
