As I sat up suddenly, it felt like I was swimming through jello. The room was a blur of colors and black spots danced in front of my eyes when I tried to move. Slowly, the spots and dizziness faded away and I jumped out of bed to get ready for the day. After taking a nice warm shower, I realized that I had no clothing other than the ones I wore yesterday. Sighing, I pulled on the white V-neck and black denim shorts that was still dirty from the (ahem) incidents from the day before.
When I was walking dawn to the lobby, a girl with deep auburn hair walk past me. She was wearing a bold red tee with a shiny golden pin, and black running shorts. Her hair was in two braids tied with a black ribbon that made her look like the old-fashioned nerd (picture Dorothy from "Wizard of Oz"). But she walked with confidence, ruining the picture if her as a nerd, and thankfully had no chunky glasses.
Going out the dormitory, I squinted at the giant map outside trying to find my class. My head snapped to the sound of footsteps pounding towards me. It teenage guy from yesterday, "The executive principal told me to tell you that he wants you to go to gymnasium E. good luck!" I frowned at the news "Luck with what?" But, by that time, he was already sprinting back to the main building.
After I finally navigated my way through the endless halls, I found myself at the biggest room I have ever seen- I don't know if you can even count it as a room. The doors were made of a rare dark wood and the room - ok, that's an understatement - was larger than three houses combined together. The gym was divided into 2 main areas, fitness, and weaponry.
"Hello!" A voice rung through the walls, making me jump out of my shock. "You must be uh... Vanessa, Right?" I was going to answer, but he cut what I was going to say. "Ok, so as a new student-" My jaw dropped at that word "-you are going to have to go through these auditions to be able to qualify."
Student? Audition? QUALIFY??? Thoughts swirled around my head like a hurricane as I tried to piece everything together. "First, we will test your basic strengths. Don't worry, it's just the easy stuff now." More confusion seeped into me, but I decided to just do whatever he told me. Since apparently, these auditions would determine whether I get qualified for the school or not.
"First, you will start with the running test. Try to run as many laps as possible" He instructed me. I walked to the track (indoor track!) while he tapped on a weird looking thing. "Your test will now begin in 3 2 1 start" a robotic voice came from the odd looking machine.
After 40 laps, the robotic voice really started to annoy me like crazy. I ran as fast as I could to try to finish the test as fast as possible so I wouldn't have to hear that irritating voice anymore. After running what seemed to me like 50 miles, the annoying machine finally stopped counting.
Now that I calmed down a bit, I noticed that I wasn't even sweating. How is that even possible? Although I was thirsty and my throat felt like parchment, I didn't feel tired. At all.
