I found myself holding a 10 pound golden spear, trying to hit the red dot on a straw dummy. Somehow, it seems that the straw-filled sack was indestructible. No matter what angle, what speed, what side, what style of throw- what style of anything, the spear just could not stab that red dot.
At the 63rd try, I got so agitated at the indestructible-sac-of-grass that by the time the stopwatch was up, the dummy was no more. Shredded cloth, loose pieces of straw, and wood fragments was flying everywhere from my frustration.
My gaze turned to the tester, who was rooted at the spot, not knowing how to react. "Well... Uh, anyways, lets move on to our last, and final test- for today at least", he blinked and motioned me to choose a bow.
There was a whole entire wall hanging with all different types of bows- antique, artisan, modern, simplistic, fantasy. In different materials- ember, gold, silver, obsidian, wood, bronze, ivory.
A particular silver bow caught my eye immediately. It was a polished platinum-silver bow encrusted with opals and pearls, embellished with white and black ink intertwining around each gem. The string of the bow was made of a strange looking hair from a silvery-white animal.
I gently lifted the bow from its hook, "I choose this one".
His eyebrows raised for just a second, but quickly turned to an understanding expression. "Now, you will choose which set of arrows you would wish to use". Walking towards a large wooden cabinet, I noticed a strange marking on the tester's arm that I never seen before. The marking was covered again when he opened the cabinet. Mentally face-palming myself, I didn't get a chance to even examine it yet.
When the cabinet opened, it seemed as if a set of arrows stashed in the way back told me choose it. My hand maneuvered through the cabinet to find those arrows, without any thought. It was like that the weapons had wanted me to use them.
I squinted to notice that the arrows and the bow were a matching set. The set of arrows were a platinum silver, intertwining black ink, just like the bow.
"Thēt cà de", the tester's dark brows furrowed, deep in thought. It seemed that he realized what I had been questioning since I first saw the silver bow: they were my symbol weapons.
Now, it all made sense. Why I was so drawn to it, why it seemed to be a welcoming of a forgotten friend- I was supposed to have them. They were meant for me to find.
Feeling a new sense of tingling power circulating through my body, I raised the bow and fired the arrow. It seemed to have a life of its own, perfectly sailing towards the center of the bullseye. One after the other, arrows pierced the board, forming a spike of silver.
Clapping echoed around the room, his expression of shock was clear. We both looked back at the target board, not believing what I just accomplished.
