The Sunday afternoon went by like routine. After mass and lunch, the family went back home and retreated to their rooms. Maine usually just lounged around, listening to music or reading her book. She was in the middle of her reading while in bed when her phone buzzed beside her. She just looked at it. After a chapter or two, it buzzed again...and it didn't stop...buzzing every few seconds....she finally picked it up and saw that she had about 6 text messages and 3 Messenger messages. She flicked on the screen to check on her texts and found several spam messages and a message from Pauleen. It was just about a blouse she saw at the mall; nothing too important. She closed the app and looked at the red icon 3 on her Messenger. She rarely messages there. She actually had forgotten about the app on her phone. She cautiously clicked on the tab and saw the name of the sender.
Rj Faulkerson, Jr.
She clicked on it and saw his messages...
Hi!
We keep on bumping into each other... J
I think these are yours...

She scrambled for her bag which was hanging behind her room door. She took it off the hook and dumped the contents on her bed. She couldn't find her earbuds. She dumped everything back inside the bag and ran out the room..
"Deeeaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnn...." she shouted running down the stairs.
Dean, who was in the den downstairs, rushed to the door.
"Ano?" he replied a bit flustered.
Maine reached the den's door which was close to the foot of the stairs. "Kita-an mo earbuds ko?" (have you seen my earbuds?)
Dean thought for a moment. "Wa-ay..." (nope)
She left Dean where he was standing and run out to the garage and to the car they used earlier. She opened the back door and scoured the seats and the floor.
"May gina-pangita ka inday?" (Are you looking for something, Ma'am?) their driver, Wally, came by the car when he heard the car door being opened.
"Uhmmm...may nakit-an ka nga earphones?" (have you seen any earphones?)
"Wa-ay man, day..." (no, I haven't)
"Ah sige...salamat..." she slammed the car door and run back in the house.
She run to her room and paced around for a bit, glancing at her phone on her bed. She went down again and entered the kitchen.
"Ya?...Yaya?..." she called for Yaya Maring.
"Ta?" Yaya Maring came out from the maids' quarters.
"Nakit-an mo ang akon earbuds?" (Have you seen my earbuds?)
"Ang dark blue na pirme mo gina-usar?" (the dark blue one that you always use?)
She nodded.
"Diba ara lang na sa bag mo?" (aren't those just in your bag?)
"Wa-ay e..." (they're not there...)
"Naglimpyo ko sang room mo kagina, waay man ko may nakit-an nga earbuds..." (I cleaned your room earlier and didn't see any earbuds)
"Hmm...sige....thanks, Ya"
She ran back upstairs to her room. She paced again and stared at the phone on the bed. She plopped on her beanbag and got the phone. She held the phone upclose and stared at the dark screen for a while.
She heaved heavily and entered her password which lead her to the screen of Rj's messages. She stared at his message for a while. Then with hands getting clammy, she started to type in her reply. In her mind though,
"Why are you shaking?!... It's just a message.... It's your earbuds!....type slowly....ano ka baaaaa...."
"Hi!"
"How did you get those?"
Within 2 seconds, there was reply..
"I found it on the floor beside the couch at Starbucks....nahulog guro when you stood up..." (....it probably fell when you stood up...)
