20 minutes...
Maine scoured through her cabinets for something to wear. (Gaga! Coffee lang!...Coffee!) She grabbed a boat-necked shirt to match her black leggings. She ran to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. She slipped on her clothes and went to the dresser to brush and tie her hair (shempre, dapat simple lang...di naman date to no....coffee lang....wag kang excited masyado....). She was trying her best to be calm about the whole situation. She was checking herself on her mirror when Yaya Maring knocked on her door.
"Ta...may ga-pangita sa imo sa dalom..." (someone's looking for your downstairs)
She slowly turned to face her Yaya. She had funny smile plastered on her face.
"Hmmm...sya tong nagdul-ong sa imo 'no?" (he's the one who brought you home the other night?) Yaya Maring asked
Maine just nodded.
"Ka-gwapo man gali...kag daw ka bu-ot..." (he's handsome...and he seems nice...)
"Ma-coffee lang kami, Ya..."
"Okay..." Yaya Maring replied with a "knowing" smile. She turned to leave the room.
"Ya, okay na ning chura ko?" (do i look good?)
"Okay gid." Yaya Maring smiled at her.
Maine took her bag which was hanging behind her door, inhaled deeply and exhaled heavily before going out. Yaya Maring followed her. She slowly walked down and paused at the foot of the stairs. Yaya Maring tapped her on the shoulder. Together, they walked to the living room where Rj was sitting on the sofa.
He stood up as soon as he saw her approach.
"Good evening..." he said with a smile. He nodded at Yaya Maring who was standing a little behind Maine.
"Good evening...Yaya Maring ko..." she introduced Yaya Maring.
"Good evening..." he greeted.
"Good evening....O, mabalik na ko anay sa kitchen..." (okay...i'll go to the kitchen now...) Yaya Maring said and walked away.
"Let's go?" she asked.
"Let's..." he answered.
Just then, her Mom came out from the kitchen.
"So Maine, indi magpagab-i...." (don't go stay out too late....)
"Yes, Mom....Mom, this is Rj..."
"Good evening.."
"Good evening, hijo..Yaya Maring said, you're an Ilonggo, too?"
"Ah yes, Tita, both my parents are from Bacolod..."
"Ah gali?" (really?)
"Yes, Tita."
"Uhmm....Mom, ma-go na kami..."
"Okay..."
He flashed a bigger smile at Maine's mom before following Maine out the door. They walked to his car which was parked outside her gate. He opened her door before rushing to the driver's side.
"Seatbelt." he reminded as soon as he got in the car. She pulled on her seatbelt as he did his. He looked at her while starting the engine.
"Coffee.." he said
"Coffee.." she replied.
He drove to Starbucks just outside her village. He got out the car as soon as he parked and tried to open her door before she did but she was already stepping out as soon as he got there. He managed to get hold of the car door, before closing it for her. She looked at him and bowed her head while he just smiled. He let her walk ahead of him but got to the door ahead of her so he could pull it open. He let her in first then he followed.
