Meant To Be

**Melisa's POV**

"This is so sudden" I avert my gaze from my friend and look at the ground, as I register what she just confessed to me.

"I mean, it's okay right? Wait, do you have feelings for him? If you have I will never--"

"No, I don't. Don't worry, I'll talk to him" I forced a smile for my friend.

She sighs in relief. "Good, Thank you Mel!! I owe you lots!" she squeals while hugging me.

I hugged back my smile falling but soon returned when the hug ended and I needed to fake it again.

"I'll see you later! Thanks again!!" she grin skipping through the hallway.

I sighed closing my locker and putting the side of my head against it.

Why am I feeling hurt? anger? and maybe jealousy? I don't like my childhood best friend Lucas, he's like a brother to me. I need to keep that in mind.

You see my best friend Molly confessed that she's been crushing on my childhood best friend for years now and she wants me to help her make Lucas go to the movies with her.. of course I agreed, but now I don't know why I'm sad.

"Hey Mel!" I twirl around startled when Vince popped up behind me out of nowhere.

He chuckles at my reaction. "You scared the shit out of me" I breath in and out trying to catch my breath while I have a hand on my chest.

"I'm sorry" he laughs and scratch the back of his neck.

I wave a hand in front of him. "Nah it's fine.. What's bring you here to scare me anyways?"

"I thought we're good? And I apologized!" He pouts making me giggle.

"I changed my mind" I nudge him playfully.

"Meany" he whisper to himself. "Well, has Molly told you about her crush on Lucas? and the plan?" I nodded my head in reply making him continue.

"Good.. well, she decided that we should tag along so it'll be a double date and I'm here to ask you out."

I was about to turn him down nicely as possible but he beat me to it.

"I know that you don't like me, so chill we'll be going as a friendly date just to keep an eye on those two. She's counting on her best friend to be there you know" I forced a smile looking away.

Thanks for making me guilty.

"Okay, a friendly date it is." I agreed making him grin in return.

"Great! See you tomorrow then I'll pick you up" he gave me a charming smile then stalks off.

I sighed then head to my next class.

I went to the parking lot and head straight to Lucas car, waiting for him there as he still converse with his friends. I watch him high five some or fist pump and bro hug them, then went off towards me.

His mesmerizing smile still in place. We go to school together hence of being neighbors and befriends.

"Let's head to the cupcake shop you love first, I have something to tell you." He said opening the passenger seat for me.

"Sure, I need to tell you something too" I told him before slamming the door shot.

Soon, he sat in the drivers seat and head to my all time favorite shop.

"Hey Lucas and Mel, nice to see you guys again. I believe the usual." he stated not really asking us but we still nodded at him.

We always go here, so we are the regular customers and maybe also the favorite.
