Chapter 4 - Aiden

Aiden is incredible at skating! It looks so easy when he does it. He wanted to teach me how to skate, so we walked home to his house, where he found an old skateboard I could get and practice on. After that we went over to a skatepark. He showed me some of his skills and told me to try, but I was terrible. I'm laughing so hard at myself.
Right now I'm sitting down, looking at him showing more skills. He's so good. I wish I'll be that good one day.
I suddenly get a message, and I take my phone out of my pocket to see it's from Sam.

From: Sam
Hey Maddie! Do you know where Aiden is? I have looked everywhere, and he wasn't at his last class. He doesn't reply on his phone, if you know where he is, please tell me!

I stop all my thoughts, should I tell him? What if Aiden doesn't want Sam to know? I better ask Aiden before I respond.
I try waving him over here, hoping he'll notice so I don't look totally lonely. Haha I can imagine everyone staring at me.
"Aiden!" I yell and he finally notices me.
He take his skateboard up from the ground and runs over to me.
"What's up?" He asks.
"Here" I say and give him my phone with Sam's message.
"Shit" he says after he had read the text.
"Well tell him that I'm with you, and it's okay" he says and gives me my phone back.
"Are you sure?" I ask.
"Yeah he is my best friend, why wouldn't he understand that I didn't want to be at school anymore?"
"You're right. Keep skating, you're so good at it!" I say and give him a big smile.
"Haha, are you coming soon? You need to learn how you stay on the board!" He says and we both laugh.
"I'm gonna kick your ass when I have learned how to skate!" I say and kick out at him.
"You wish" he says and starts skating away from me.
I laugh to myself, as I reply to Sam.

To: Sam
He's with me, don't worry

I put my phone in my bag, and take the skateboard under my arm before I run out of the skating rink.

"Congrats skater girl, you're actually pretty good" Aiden says while we walk away from the skatepark.
"I know, I'm pretty amazing at everything" I say and throw my hair behind my shoulder.
"You're such a lier" he say and laugh.
"Hey take that back!" I say.
"I'm sorry, you just have enough confidence" he says and lays an arm around my shoulder.
"Hey weirdo, I'm not your girlfriend" I say and push his arm away from me.
"I was just trying to be nice" he says and looks sad at me.
"I know, but don't try to be too sweet. I don't want Sam to think we have something. Promise me we'll stay friends. It'll be so awkward if one of us got feeling for the other" I say and realize how terrible I sound. Think about it what if he likes me.
"I completely agree. I'm not trying to make you sad, but you're not my taste - but a really good friend" he says and I breath out. He doesn't like me.
"You too" I say and smile. We stop up in front of my door and I give him his board.
"Do you know what, it's a gift. Please keep it" he says and gives the board back to me.
"Are you sure?" I ask.
"Yeah! I'm not even using it anymore. And I want to see you grow in the skating history" he says and smiles at me.
"Thank you" I say and give him a quick hug.
"I'll see you soon" I say and go inside my house.
"Bye!" He yells and I close the door.
I turn around and walk upstairs, without even thinking about where my dad or Emily are. I close the door to my room and place my new skateboard in the corner of my room/right next to my walk in closet.
I take my shoes of and throw them away on the floor. It makes me so happy to do new things. It just makes my day.
I hear someone knock on my door, and i tell the person to come in. The door opens and I see Sam coming into my room.
"Hey" I say and smile to him.
"Haven't you got any of my texts?" He asks. He doesn't look happy at all.
"You mean the one with where Aiden is?" I ask and take my phone out of my bag.
"No, the other ones" he says and sits down next to me.
I open my phone and see that I have 3 new messages, all from Sam.
"I'm so sorry, me and Aiden were out skating so I didn't notice any of your messages" I say and look at him.
"It's okay, but what the heck are you doing with him?" He says. I can't read him at all. He looks so mad, but still sad at the same time.
"I was really bored so I texted him, and then he told me he wanted to come over. I asked if he was going to get in trouble, but he told me that there was nothing to worry about" I say and look down.
"Why didn't you text me?" He asks. This time he doesn't sound mad.
"I know you wouldn't reply, and I actually don't have a reason for why I then thought about texting Aiden - but he replied, and we had fun!" I say and smiled again.
"Please Maddie, don't do that again, and not with Aiden" he says.
"Why? Are you two not friends anymore or what?" I ask.
"We are friends, and that's the problem. I know how he is. He smirks many girls, and can easy break any girls heart. I don't want that to happen to you" he says and I actually get kinda sad when he tells me that. He's really caring for me.
"It's really sweet of you - but there's nothing between me and Aiden. He's like a brother to me, like you are Sam. He is not gonna break my heart, or make me fall in love with him" I say and lay a hand on his back.
"I still want you to be careful. I don't want to say 'I told you so' cause I don't want to see you sad because of my best friend. I don't want to choose between one of you" he says and I smile a little when I hear those words.
"Sam you are the sweetest brother in the world. You're not going to say 'I told you so' or choose between him and me, cause Aiden is your best friend and I respect that, and he's my friend too - nothing more, nothing less" I say and give him a hug.
"I just wanted to be sure" he says and smiles.
"You have nothing to worry about" I say.
"Good" he says and stands up from the bed.
"Do you want to play video games?" He asks.
"Sure! Wait a second I'll come. I just need to do something" I say and smile as he walks out of the room.
I lay down on my bed, and throw my phone on it too.
I'm walking around in this big wonderful world, with so many great people, who cares for me, and want me to feel good. How can I ever give back to them? I want to buy them stuff that they can use forever and be so happy about. I want to give them all the hugs they want. I want to make them smile every time they feel down. The thought of me making Sam, Dad, Emily, Aiden, Jake and Bella happy, makes me so filled with happiness and luck.
I stand up, take my phone in my hand and go into Sam's room.
"I'm ready to play" I say I sit down on his bed.
"What do you want to play?" He asks.
"I don't know, I haven't played that many different kinds of video games" I say.
"What have you tried?" He asks.
"Mario car" I say and we both laugh.
"Please let's play something else than that" he says and I nod.
"What do you want to play?" I ask and he turns around to his computer.
He goes through some different video games, but they all look too difficult for me to play.
I suddenly get a message, and I open my phone to see who send me a text.

From: Unknown number
Hey Maddie! It's me Ethan. You told me that you're new in the city, and you're looking for new friends, and I feel pretty bad about that it was a prank. I just want to let you know, that you still have a friend in me if you want, and you can always text me if you want to hang out :D

I smile at the message. He actually wants to be my friend.
