Chapter 9 - Mom

"Maddie?" I hear someone say before I open my eyes and see my dad.
"Hey dad" I say really tired and get up.
"I'm sorry I got home so late" He says and sits down beside me on my bed. Dad wasn't home before I started getting tired so I went to bed.
"That's okay" I say and smile, still really tired.

"Did you, Sam and Emily have a good time?" he asks and I nod.
"Yeah it was nice just being with them" I say.

"Well I'm home today, that's the reason why I was at work for so long yesterday. I was hoping I could get off today, and I did!" he says and looks happy. I love seeing my dad happy.
"Well what are you gonna be doing since you're home?" I ask.

"I'm gonna spend the day with you, what else do you think?" He says and hugs me. I hug him back, he is the best hugger i know. Not that I hug a lot of people, but you know where I'm going right?
"So tell me, what do you wanna do? Buy some new clothes? Watch a movie? Eat a lot of food?" he asks and I laugh.
"Maybe all of it?" I say and smile.

"Lets see if we have time for everything. Get changed so we at least can do one of the things" He says and stands up.

"Hey I can be ready in 10 minutes" I say and kick out at him.
"If you say so" he says and walks out off the door.
"I'm quicker than mom!" I yell, but I regret it immediately. It's quite, he isn't answering.

"Dad?" I ask and walk over to the door. He jumps infront of me and I get really shocked.
"You realize you only have 8 minutes now right?" he asks and laughs.

"You're such a bitch! Do you know that?" I say, but laugh too.
"I can deal with being a bitch if I can annoy you" he says and walks down the stairs.

"See you in five!" I yell and run as quick as I can into my room to get changed. I don't want to do anything with my hair today. I hate having my hair straight, but I want to get back at dad as quick as possible.

I run down the stairs, take my bag in my hand and walk calm into the living room.
"Done" I say and put my hands in the air.
"Wauw impressive" he says and I nod with confidence.
"Are you ready?" I ask when he stands up from the couch.
"Yeah, let me just put on my shoes" he says and walks out to our little hallway.

"So you're not ready?" I say.
"Okay okay, you won. You are quick" he says and I smile.
"I know" I say and we walk outside.

"So what are we doing first?" I ask.
"Lets get some food, I guess you haven't eaten breakfast, right?" he says.
"That's true" I say.

"I don't think I can ever eat again" I say and touch my belly.
"You'll for sure be hungry again" he says and laughs.
"Maybe, but it feels like I have been eating for hours!" I say.
"You have been eating for 2 hours, but you had a break after the first hour" he says and i look shocked at him. 2 hours?! That's a long time!

"Wait can we still do the other things?" I ask.
"Yeah it's only 3pm" He says.
"Well lets move on then!" I say and get up.

"You're really fresh today! I wish you were like that everyday" he says while we walk away from the café.
"I'm just trying to enjoy life 100 percent" I say and smile.
"I like you like this Maddie. I hope you know that. I love seeing you being so happy" he says and smiles at me. I love you dad, I can't imagine a dad who could be better than you.

"I like seeing you happy too" I say and give him a hug.
"So what shop do you want to go to first?" he asks when I let him go from my hug.
"forever 21?" I ask. I actually have no idea which shops you can find in LA. It's weird cause I didn't really know that in Texas either. I have never really been the biggest 'shopper'.
