I Immediately took off in the opposite direction but I could hear he had already gotten out of the van and was chasing after me. My ankle was still sprained and it hurt to run. I wasn't sure how far I'd make it before he finally caught up.
"Julia!" I heard Pete still calling behind me. I ignored him and kept going, blind to my surroundings as I stumbled across the forest floor. Suddenly, the ground before me dropped off, vanishing in the night. I took in a sharp breath and scrambled to a stop, falling on my back, the wind knocked from my lungs.

My feet hung over the edge of the drop off and I pulled them back, a shiver running down my spine as I got on my hands and knees to look out into the chasm. As my eyes adjusted, I realized it wasn't a cliff at all, it was a massive crater in the earth. I couldn't tell how deep it went, but it was too wide to walk around. What could have done this? Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed an imprint in the mud to my right. Carefully shifting my position so as not to worsen my ankle, I brushed aside some of the twigs and fallen leaves.

Many feetprints was on the ground leading to and from the crater. A sudden memory popped into my mind, the other day when the bands had been at an "interview". Something had seemed off about them, how tired they were, their muddied shoes and behavior stranger than normal. Was here where they had been? And what was here?

"Julia!" I heard behind me. Clamping a hand to my mouth, I tried scrambled backwards, but my feet stuck in the mud. Pete came just around the corner. "Julia, get back to the car." he said, a seriousness in his voice. "What is this place?" I asked. His eyes slid past me to the crater in the ground, then he reached out and helped me to my feet.

"Nothing" he replied. "Just a pit. Its been here forever, I just ignore it." His eyes fell to my ankle. "You're hurt. Come on, there's a first aid kit in the car. Let's go." I couldn't lie, my ankle hurt a lot. With a sigh, I put an arm around Pete and we made our way back to the road.

Most of the ride was silent until I finally couldn't take it anymore.
"Please don't take me back there!" I begged. Pete kept a straight face, eyes still focused on the dark road.
"I don't get it, why won't you tell me why you need me? Why do you have to keep me trapped there? You said you had feelings for me, well if you love me then let me go!"

The car suddenly lurched to a stop as Pete turned to look at my dead in the eye. His face wore an expression I wasn't familiar with "Don't you get it?" He shouted. "Its not just you. We're all prisoners here."
