I'm walking down the stairs homecoming night thinking about how everyone else at my school's doing the same thing, but the only difference is I'm not going to the dance, my boyfriend Aaron didn't want to. Even though I'm dressed sort of nice for tonight's events, which are a surprise because he refused to tell me. I still wish I had on a dress. I hear the knock on the door and "Sara! Aaron's here!" from my mom. I walk in the kitchen to see her opening the door, then I walk towards them. "You ready?" he asks. I nod and he walks me over to his car to open the door. He leans down as I get in and gives me a kiss, but right before he closes the door he whispers in my ear, "Beautiful as always Sara." A smile creeps on my face, along with a deep blush as he goes around and gets in.
He pulls into a sonic-shell gas station, probably to get gas, except he parks. I feel an upsetting feeling come up and I end up shouting, "Aaron! You're taking me to sonic? I didn't get upset when you told me you didn't want to go to homecoming, but I'm not letting this go. I wanted to go Aaron! I wanted to dress up and you be in a tux. I wanted to go dance and look like fools on the dance floor, but I didn't say anything because you didn't want to go. But this isn't right. You don't take me to homecoming for sonic?" Aaron's expression turns into shock and doesn't move until I'm done ranting. "I had no idea", he tells me. "You never asked", were the only words I had for him. He nods and says, "Yes and I'm sorry for that Sara, but I'm not going to take you to sonic. I stopped, because I have something for you in the back that I forgot to give you when I picked you up." Aaron opens his door and gets out.
I turn towards his direction once the door opens and find a white rose being held out to me. I can feel water starting to collect in my eyes, they're my favorite flower and I've been so mean to him. "For you, my love", he tells me while handing it to me. "Aaron it's beautiful. Thank you. I'm so sorry, I was so mean", I barely get out without crying. He smiles at me and suggests, "Let's just pretend the night started when I handed you the rose." Then he reaches over to kiss me.
We start to drive again, while holding hands. We pull into my favorite Italian restaurant and walk hand in hand up to the doors. There's a wait, but I don't mind waiting here with him. When we finally do get our table, it's nice that he's the type of person, like me, that orders right away. We order dessert, which we share. It was actually going great.
Once leaving and walking to the car, he goes to open my door once again. I stop and tell him, "This has been incredible, thank you Aaron." He smiles and gives me a kiss before telling me, "It's not over yet." I give him a questioning look while raising my eyebrow at him, but he only keeps smiling at me.
We start to go to the mystery destination, when one of my favorite songs comes on the radio. I turn the volume up and start to sing loudly, Aaron looks at me but shortly joins in and we begin to laugh at how bad we sound. We pull up to a bowling alley and stay there for an hour. Once back in the car, we just sit there at first. Aaron breaks the silence, "Is it possible that I might be more in love with you now?" He looks over at me while taking my hands. I nod and say, "Yes, because I believe I have too." Then the thought occurs to me that tonight was much better than the dance could have ever been.
