Shruti woke up to a piece of parchment floating in front, not at all used to this, she screamed, loudly. Sienna and Simran shot up, both had managed to grab their wands and they were directed vaguely in Shruti's direction. After realising that there was no imminent danger, they put their wands down. "Why'd you wake me up so early?" complained Sienna.

"I woke up too, you know," said Simran, sounding annoyed.

"Why'd you wake us up so early?" corrected Sienna.

"Look," said Shruti, pointing to the parchment. At a glance it looked as if the parchment was on the window sill, but when Sienna and Simran looked closer, they realised that it was floating.

"You woke us up because of parchment?" said Sienna.

Shruti shrugged. "It scared me, and don't go back to sleep, we have lessons," she added, noticing Sienna falling back onto her pillow. Sienna groaned.

Simran, however, was intrigued by the parchment and left the comfort of her bed to examine it; she was watching it very closely, and when Shruti stretched her arm to touch it, Simran half shouted "Don't touch it!"

"Okay, okay," said Shruti, holding her hands up.

Simran spent about five minutes examining and casting spells, charms, and god knows what else. "It's dark magic," she concluded, her face darkening.

"Well, can I touch it?" asked Shruti, now more curious.

"I guess, but be careful," she warned. Shruti sat up and watched the parchment as it floated directly in front of her face. She took it into her hands and the edges of the parchment began to burn away, her eyes widened and she quickly fumbled with the paper, in an effort to unfold it before it burnt completely away. "Careful!" reminded Simran.

"Yeah, whatever," replied Shruti, straightening out the paper, ignoring the pain from the burning edges. She read over it quickly, and then took out her wand. "Aguamenti," she said, pointing her wand at the parchment in an attempt to preserve it. The flames didn't go out. "It won't go out," she stated.

"Well, I did say it was dark," responded Simran, as if it were obvious.

"Meh," replied Shruti. "Is it just going to burn away?"

"Probably," said Simran shrugging.

"How come it's hot, but isn't burning me?" asked Shruti, holding the burning edge against the palm of her hand.

"Again, I told you its dark magic," she said, sounded slightly annoyed.

"Okay, okay," replied Shruti, waiting for the parchment to burn itself to nothing.

"You lied," said Sienna, rather loudly, she sounded appalled.

"What?" asked Simran, not knowing what Sienna was talking about.

"It's Sunday, and therefore we have no school," she stated sounding more awake than she had been.

"Therefore?" questioned Simran, not used to such language in the early hours of the morning.

She shrugged, "You know I don't think before I speak, I just speak. How am I supposed to know where 'therefore' came from?"

"Okay then," said Simran, seeming confused. "And, you've left so much homework till the last minute that it'll take all day to finish it."

Sienna groaned, "I forgot about that."

"You forgot about over 10 pieces of homework, but remembered 'therefore'?" asked Shruti, her eyebrows were raised.

"Shut up," said Sienna, now annoyed.

"Fine then," said Shruti. "I'm going for a walk."

"Okay then, see you in ..." trailed off Simran.

"Half an hour," said Shruti, and she left the room, taking her egg with her.

"What did that note say?" asked Sienna.

"I don't know, I didn't get to see," replied Simran.

"Okay, because she's sitting at the edge of the Black Lake right now."
