Chapter Nine

As time went by, Lucy found herself having to stuff more pillows into her shirt to keep up the guise of being eight months pregnant.

Much to the blonde's relief, she wasn't exactly having the hardest time on this project yet. Sure, she couldn't exactly fit into her tight tops anymore and had to resort to wearing Natsu's sweatshirts everywhere, but it was still much better than dealing with a wailing baby.

Lucy watched curiously as Levy cradled a tiny plastic baby in her arms, making little cooing noises at the baby. Gajeel was next to her, looking extremely uncomfortable as he held out a pink baby bottle to the girl.

"Is it really that bad?" Lucy asked, figuring they probably had some time for a conversation since their teacher had yet to arrive.

Levy looked up, dark circles evident under her eyes and her hair was even more of an unruly mess than before. "Trust me, it is. No amount of books could have prepared me for this."

Lucy sighed, "It's almost time for me to give birth."

Levy smiled. "I'm sure you'll be fine, Lu-chan! There's always Natsu to bug if you need anything."

"Well, it's just the thought of having to carry a baby everywhere you know? And I'll probably end up killing it by accident."

"You'll be a great mama, Lucy!"

Lucy felt someone's chin on the top of her head and her eyes traveled upwards to see Natsu grinning down at her.

Lucy grinned back. "I'm only a great mama if there's a great papa!"

At which, Natsu grinned happily at her.

They were both happily smiling at each other, to which Levy let out a giggle.

"You two should just get married already!" the tiny girl smirked. "I bet your babies would have adorable pink hair and Lucy's cute brown eyes."

Lucy blushed slightly, lifting her hand to cup her warm cheeks.

From the corner of her eye, she could see a tinge of pink on Natsu's cheeks too.

"Ha! No way Levy-chan! No way! We're best friends."

Ever since Natsu moved in with her, the pair have shared the bed. Lucy was fine with it, since Natsu was her best friend and he would never ever do anything to her.

And she guessed that Natsu probably did not care about sharing the bed with a girl.

"Luce, I'm taking off my shirt. It's too bloody hot in here."

Lucy rolled her eyes. "It wouldn't be this hot if someone could fix the air conditioning."

"Why am I supposed to be the one fixing it?"

"Because you're the husband?"

"Whatever, I'm going to sleep. Scoot over, Lucy."

"The bed's small enough!"

"Come on, Luce?"

Lucy found herself pressed up against Natsu's hard chest, her face right next to it.

Normally Natsu would have a shirt on, but Lucy finds herself heating up. It's probably the hot season, Lucy nodded to herself. Definitely that.

Natsu fell asleep quickly, his quiet snores reverberating through the room. Lucy fanned herself with her hands, desperately wishing she would cool down.

Natsu's just my best friend. Natsu is my best friend. Natsu is not a guy. Natsu is not a guy. Natsu is not- Oh for cripe's sake, Natsu is a guy.

Lucy groaned.

"Fuck's sake!"

Lucy awoke to the feeling of a pair of warm arms wrapped tightly around her.

Wait.

"Natsu?" she shrieked, her fist flying outwards to punch him right across the jaw.

"What the fuck?" the boy in question yelped as he landed on the floor.

Lucy took in Natsu's disheveled appearance from his sleep — his ruffled hair, half closed eyes and topless.

Fuck, he's hot.

Lucy froze as the thought entered her mind.

Natsu? Hot?

Lucy shook her head frantically, slapping herself twice.

No way, I'm probably just horny. I'm probably just pregnant and horny. Wait, I'm not even pregnant! I'm just horny, nothing to worry about.

"Uh Lucy? Are you okay?" Natsu placed a hand on the blonde's arm.

Lucy jerked away in shock, her cheeks flaming pink.

"I need a cold shower, bye!"

Natsu was left standing there, a befuddled expression on his face.

"What the hell, Lucy?"
