Chapter Six

"Hey Natsu, what do you want for dinner tonight?" Lucy asks, a large smile on her face.

"Fire chicken!" Natsu says cheerfully.

"We're eating instant noodles." Lucy decides, reaching up to get two packets from the cupboard.

"What? Instant noodles?" Natsu looks devastated for a moment.

"Why? Is there a problem?"

"Then why did you even ask me what I wanted to eat?" Natsu looks confused.

"I was just trying to be polite!"

"Geesh, instant noodles it is then! It's really unhealthy actually!" Natsu argues, pouting.

"This is coming from the person who eats plates of fire chicken for a meal." 

"They're good, admit that!"

"Okay fine, maybe they're really good but all I have are instant noodles." Lucy frowns, digging through her cupboards but ending up empty handed.

"Time to go grocery shopping then!" Natsu says cheerfully, pulling Lucy along who groans.

"At 8 o'clock at night? Seriously? I'm starving, why don't we just-"

"Nuh uh! We're going to go get some food and cook something edible!" Natsu grins, poking Lucy's belly, "This little guy needs to eat good food."

Lucy blushes, a small smile appearing on her face. For the baby huh? True, the baby isn't even real, she isn't even pregnant, but it's nice to know that Natsu is willing to do something like that.

"Okay," the blonde agrees.

Lucy has never been more grateful that the supermarket was just three blocks away. The cold chilly night air nips at her exposed arms as she shivers. 

"God damn it..." she mutters, frantically rubbing her arms.

"What's wrong, Luce?" Natsu asks worriedly, wondering why the blonde is muttering a string of angry words.

"I'm cold! I forgot to bring a jacket, damn it."

"Come here," Natsu wraps an arm around her shoulders, yanking her close to him.

Lucy lets out a small yelp of surprise, but relaxes as she lays her head on Natsu's shoulders. They both walk in a comfortable silence, with Natsu's ridiculous body heat warming her up. She sighs contently, if only life would be like this everyday. A smile spreads across Lucy's face.

"You're so warm and nice and fluffy." Lucy murmurs happily, snuggling her head closer to his neck.

"I was born this way!" Natsu announces.

Lucy bursts out laughing, "Did you just quote a Lady Gaga song?"

A light pink tint appears on his cheeks, "Maybe."

"Oh my god Natsu, you totally listened to that Lady Gaga album I left behind at your house! You so did! I don't think you really lost it, you're just keeping it for yourself!"

"N-No! I don't listen to Lady Gaga, come on Luce."

"Uh huh, and I am totally not female." Lucy deadpans.

"Wait, you aren't? Holy crap-"

"I am a girl, god damn it! I was being sarcastic!" 

"Oh, now that makes sense. I mean, if you were a guy, why would you have such huge-"

"Drop the topic, now." Lucy swats Natsu on the arm.

They both continue walking, Lucy occasionally making comments at how chilly the night is and how warm Natsu is.

"Natsu! Lucy! Would you look at you guys! Day one of the project and already so chummy huh?" A familiar voice calls out.

"Gray! Juvia!" Lucy exclaims, waving to the couple in front of her animatedly.

"Hey flamebrain, couldn't keep your hands off her huh?" Gray gives Natsu a smirk.

"Looks like Juvia can't keep her hands off you either." Natsu retorts, eyeing the bluenette that is clinging onto Gray like how a sloth would cling onto a tree branch.

"What's your scenario anyway?" Lucy decides to ask as both boys glared daggers at each other.

Juvia pipes up happily, "Gray-sama and Juvia are newly married couples! Juvia is already 8 months pregnant!"

"Does every couple start off with a pregnant girl?" Lucy wonders aloud.

"Nah, there were other partners who already got the baby. Really unfortunate for them. You should have seen Elfman's face when Evergreen dumped the crying baby on him and went off shopping with Lisanna." Gray sniggers.

Lucy starts laughing, the image of Elfman yelling 'Man' at the baby while it cried appearing in her head. 

"We gotta go! Luce I'm really hungry, come on! Let's go get food."

Gray smirks at the two of them, chuckling. "Still haven't had dinner?"

"Lucy only has instant noodles and they suck! I want a good meal of fire chicken!"

Juvia smiles adoringly as she says, "Gray-sama took Juvia out for dinner at some fancy restaurant! Juvia had a great time."

"Way to go, Gray! You sure know how to treat a girl who's not even your girlfriend," Lucy giggles, nudging Gray.

"Well, she needs to eat anyway and we might as well get something good since she's the one suffering cause of the fat belly," Gray says with a blush.

"Lucy! Let's go, bye losers!" Natsu tows Lucy away from the couple, earning a loud protest from the blonde and a chorus of goodbyes from Gray and Juvia.

"What was with you?" Lucy asks a pouting Natsu.

"I was hungry! It's already half past 8!"

"It's so late?"

"Exactly my point!"

"Oh my god Natsu, let's hurry up!"

"That was what I was trying to do!"
