PERCY

You know you are a downright boss when the God of the Underworld needs your help. And it's not even the first time. I think he might going soft.

Here, I'll give you a rundown of how it went down.

Now, as a demigod (half human, half god), I get a lot of strange and unusual dreams. Most of them are visions of something important - but sometimes it's something stupid like my buddy Grover's enchilada dreams. Yeah... Strange. But this time, I was in a place I'd visited only a couple of times before. I was in the palace of the god Hades.

Now, if you haven't heard of my previous stories, you're probably like whaaaattt!? Who is this demigod dude and why does a god care about him? That's like, totally, not fair. Well that's a good question and I wish I knew the answer.

My name is Percy Jackson.

Look, I didn't want to be a halfbood - why are you hitting me? I can too reuse sentences - it's not like they're going to remember! Wait, they do? I have a fandom? This just gets better and better.

Back to the story. The palace of Hades had obsidian walls- all inky black. Undead skeletons and bones stood everywhere, either serving as guards or just sitting there, casually being bones. Gray and red pillars stood around the giant throne room, supporting the ceiling of who-knows-how-many pounds. Hades throne, 15 feet tall and as obnoxious as he, sat directly in front of me. The god himself sat in his big black chair, gazing down, silently judging me.

Persephone, goddess of springtime, would be up on the mortal world seeing as it is not winter. Without Persephone, I expected Hades would want to slit my throat or something. I mean, he's threatened it a couple of times. Nothing like another empty promise from the gods, eh? He wore the same old outfit (yawn) that he always wears. His helm of darkness upon his head, in the shape of a giant golden crown. He also wore a sweeping dark cloak, showing disturbing flickering images of pain and death. Hades stared at me with a face of pure boredom, his pitch black eyes bore into my skin, making me feel less alive and whole by the second. I shivered. Hades felt a little too much like Tarturus - my least favorite place in the world.

"Percy Jackson." Hades said, leaning on an arm of his throne. "I need you to do me a favor. And I'd appreciate it if you didn't screw it up."

"Uncle... Um, Lord Hades... What are you doing in my dreams?"

"Didn't I just tell you, boy?" The god of the underworld snapped. "I need your..." He grimaced. "help."

I laughed in disbelief. "You - a god, need my, a demigod's, help? Since when? I thought gods were almighty powerful and didn't need anybody's help." I said mockingly.

"Can it, boy. This is important."

"Important enough to interrupt my sleep?"

"Shut it! I need you to retrieve my daughter." I froze.

"Wait... Your daughter?" I know I'm not very good at math, but if my calculations are correct, then there's no way Hades could've had a child old enough to come to camp after the no-child-oath was unestablished. So Hades wasn't as innocent in the entire prophecy business as everyone thought he was, huh?
