*Liam*
Three Days Later...
I Was At The Grocery Store, Stocking Up On Groceries For Amayah And Jazz, But I Really Didn't Know What They Ate On A Daily Basis. I Grabbed My Phone And Called Amayah.
"Hello." She Answered.
"Hey...Um...What Do You Guys Eat?" I Asked. She Sighed.
"Check Your Pockets Liam. I Left You A Grocery List." She Said. I Dug Into My Pockets And Pulled Out A Folded Up Piece Of Paper.
"Oh...I See It Here. When Did You Put This Here?" I Asked.
"This Morning." She Said. I Chuckled As My Phone Beeped.
"I Got Another Call Coming In. I'll See You In A Little Bit." I Said.
"Okay Bye." She Said. I Clicked Over And Answered The Incoming Call.
"Hello?" I Answered.
"Hi...May I Speak With Liam Adkins?" A Female Voice Said.
"Speaking." I Said.
"Oh Hi Mr. Adkins, This Is Nurse Laney At ARCpoint Lab. The Results From The DNA Test Came In." She Said.
"Oh Okay. What Are They?" I Asked, Anxiously.
"Just Like I Said...Jazzlynn Washington Is 100% Your Daughter." She Said. I Stopped In My Tracks.
"Are You Sure?" I Asked.
"Yes Sir. I Remember You Telling Me That You Took Another DNA Test Prior To The One You Took Here, And I Looked It Up. It Came Out Just The Same." She Said.
"So...She's Been My Daughter The Entire Time?" I Asked, Getting Pissed Off.
"Yes Sir. Let Me Ask You Something...When You Were Told The Results, Did You Get A Paper Copy?" She Asked.
"No." I Said.
"Wow. Well...I'm Sorry To Hear That, But She's Definitely Your Daughter." She Said.
"Thanks For Calling." I Said, As I Hung Up. I Was Shaking Mad As I Stormed Out Of The Grocery Store And Quickly Got Into My Car. I Immidiately Called My Dad And I Was About To Give Him A Piece Of My Mind. Well I Thought I Was....Lucky For Him, He Didn't Answer My Call.
I Quickly Drove Back To The House Like A Bat Out Of Hell. I Owed Amayah A Huge Apology, And I Owed Jazzlynn An Even Bigger Apology. Though She Doesn't Even Know What's Going On Right Now, I Have Failed Her So Far As Her Dad.
I Quickly Walked Into The House And Jazz Was The First To Greet Me At The Door.
"Hi Da Da!" She Said. I Smiled And Picked Her Up. I Showered Her With Kisses As She Laughed And Giggled.
"I'm So Sorry Baby Girl. Daddy Is Here And I'm Not Going Anywhere. I Promise. I Love You." I Said.
"Luh You Da Da." Jazz Said, Kissing My Lips. I Walked Further Into The House And Went Looking For Amayah.
"Amayah!" I Called Out.
"Maaa Maaa!" Jazz Called Out.
"What? What's Wrong?" Amayah Said, Running Into The Hallway. I Sat Jazzlynn Down And Pulled Amayah Into My Arms.
"I'm Sorry. I Am So Sorry." I Said.
"Sorry For What?" She Asked.
"For Everything. Turns Out Jazz Is Really My Daughter And I Shouldn't Have Doubted That She Wasn't. I'm Also Sorry For Yelling At You And Putting My Hands On You. You Didn't Deserve It, And I Promise I'm Going To Deal With My Dad. From Now On...It's You And Jazz." I Said.
"Good To Know." She Said. She Didn't Seem As Happy As I Thought She Would.
"What's Wrong?" I Asked.
"Nothing." She Said. She Walked Off, But I Grabbed Her Arm.
"There's Something Wrong, Amayah. Tell Me What It Is." I Said. She Sighed And Gently Pulled Her Arm Away.
"Did You Forget I Was Pregnant?" She Said. I Really Did Forget. Wow...I Got One Kid And Two On The Way. Yikes! I Need To Rethink My Life Plan.
"No I Didn't Forget. I'm Gonna Be There For The New Baby Too." I Said.
"That's All I Ask For. Just Be Here For Jazz And This Baby. Me You Don't Have To Worry About Me." She Said. Before I Could Respond, Amayah's Phone Started Ringing.
"I Have To Take This." She Said, As She Quickly Walked Away. Jeez...I Know I Was In The Wrong Before, But That Doesn't Mean Amayah Should Still Be Standoffish Right? I Know I Made A Mistake, But I'm Deeply Sorry And I Want To Make Things Right. Maybe I Should Show Her How Sorry I Am And See If That Will Make Things Better Between Us. I'll Start By Making Her A Romantic Dinner, That Way We Can Sit Down And Talk Just The Two Of Us. That's What I'm Going To Do.
