Chapter XXIX
"Can I ask you something?" I say. His head tilts towards me, and he nods. After I calmed down, we just sat in silence. None of us had anything to say to each other. He dropped the topic about 'us'.
"Sure, shoot me." He says, and I smile, but I feel my nerves tightening inside me.
"When Rom and I were in the garden.." I can immediately feel him tense up, his shoulders perking up and on guard. "What-I-what happen to you?"
"The power of a Nobel." He faintly says, as I inch towards him to hear him better.
"Huh?" I ask, and his eyes meet mine. They are so devoid of emotions.
"Nobels. All Nobels have a supernatural ability. Mine is...i'm not sure to be completely honest." He admits, twiddling with his slender fingers. I blink at him, trying to register what I was told.
"How long have you had this power?" I ask, and he looks at me again.
"When you and Rom were...together. That was the first time ever that it occurred. I was swallowed by this sheer power that threatened to destroy him."
A gasp escapes my lips as he cringes further, clutching his head with his hands.
"What..What did it feel like?" I subconsciously say, and he looks up at the ceiling.
"Power." He says, and I tilt my head in confusion. "I felt like I could do anything. I felt like I could...destroy everything with just a touch. My veins were overwhelmed with power. I could hear my anger, my power inside me. As if something had awakened inside me." He says in detail, and his voice turns rigid, and he flexes his fingers.
"Can you...can you do something with it?" I ask and he looks at me skeptically. Our eyes lock with each other and I feel my heart beat fast as I stare into his eyes, trying to decrypt what he was thinking.
"Promise not to tell?" He softly whispers, and I nod.
He stands up with sudden energy, staring at the ceiling. He brings his right hand out, as if he was about to perform something. I stare with incredible intensity, waiting expectantly for his next move.
He closes his eyes, his left hand tightening into a fist as he mutters some stuff under his breath. His hand begins trembling from the amount of pressure he's putting. My eyes widen immensely as I see his veins suddenly popping out, and he tightens his left fist until it's white. I could feel the energy, the power, radiating off of him.
Suddenly, I noticed a speck of black floating in his palm. I concentrate, and it gets bigger and bigger, until it's almost an orb, just floating in his palm. It begins to glow rapidly, bathing the room in a sheer light. I have to look away, because it's too bright.
I hear a tiny crackling sound and feel the light die down. I look back, and Landon's smiling. In his hand, there's a beautiful shining orb, and I feel my breath caught in my throat. It's beautiful. It continues to glow, the light refusing to fade.
"Can I....can I touch it?" I ask, and he smiles and nods. I quickly poke it with my index finger.
It's warm.
"How...how did you..?" I am at a loss of words. I can't keep my eyes off the orb, because it's so divine. He smiles at me, I see it from the corner of my eyes.
