"What makes you think I want 'alone time' with you." I scoff, pushing him off me. I haven't been this rebellious with him since...ever?
"Penelope, you don't have a choice." I shudder at his nickname for me. He always called me by my middle name when he was frustrated with me.
"Stop calling me that!" I shriek. It felt good to stand up for myself but at the same time I was utterly terrified for his reaction.
"Shut your mouth or you'll feel my anger." Noah growled and my mouth slapped shut, as much as I wanted to sass him and get him off of me I knew that I couldn't without getting really beaten up or raped or something.
"Why do you even want me? There are plenty of other attractive girls that would love for you to... never mind. The point is that I'm not the only girl out there." I finish, crossing my arms over my chest.
"That's exactly right. Plenty of other girls want me. You, however, don't. That's why I'm after you. You don't submit and I need to teach you your lesson." He sneered and licked his lips. I gagged, he's disgusting.
He lowered his head to my lips and started kissing them roughly. I shoved him off equally as rough, shaking the cart. I shrieked.
"You're afraid of heights, moron. Don't do something you'll regret." Noah laughed and advanced on me again. I squealed in fear as he literally laid on top of me.
"Get off of me, you stupid–"
"Shut up, Penelope." Noah kissed my neck and I shoved him off once more.
"Don't call me that!" I scream.
"Hey!" Someone outside of our cart yells.
Lucas.
At this point I start to tear up. I'm basically hopeless. This enemy of mine is going to rape me or something and Lucas is going to feel bad for not stopping it even though it isn't his fault. Just great.
"Get off her!" Lucas bellows.
"In your dreams!" Noah yells back. Noah licks my cheek and I spit on his nose, anger flickers in his eyes. He grabs my neck, air gradually leaves my lungs.
"Stop." I choke out. Meanwhile, Lucas is going ballistic in his cart, trying to maintain sight of me while escaping his cart.
"Apologize." Noah hissed.
"I'm s-sorry." I choke out. Breathe flows back into my lungs and I start coughing hysterically. "Thank you."
Don't thank him! He's the bad guy who almost raped and killed you!
"Your welcome, Penelope."
I hiss and kick him in his sensitive spot. Red flashes in my eyes and I punch and kick him while he's on the ground. I stop only when the cart starts moving. It gets to the bottom and I hop out, falling to the ground. My legs are weak and my shoulders are shaking as I cry. A strong figure envelops me.
"Maya, this was my fault–" Lucas starts.
"Shut up and kiss me." I gasp. His eyes flicker with worry but he obeys. I kiss him softly as silent tears spill from my eyes. We break apart and he gently kisses my forehead, holding me as strong as before.
"Maya, I'm so sorry." Lucas says.
"Lucas, it was not your fault! Nor was it mine. It was Noah's fault, it had nothing to do with your decision or mine. Just his impulsive decision to ruin my day once again." I groan, beginning to get mad at myself.
"But if I hadn't convinced you to go on the ride–"
"Then he probably would've have kidnapped me and you would have had no idea where to go. You did me a favor, Lucas. This was not your fault." I take his hand and squeeze it. "I love you. This was not your fault." His eyes soften and I could've sworn he was tearing up. He opens his mouth to say something but I cut him off. "And if you apologize one more time I will hit you." I threaten. He laughs with me but the look in his eyes tells me that he doesn't forgive himself now and he might never. I mentally smack myself for letting him feel this way. It's all my fault.
"What happened to you two?" Riley asks, walking towards with Farkle on her heels.
"I scraped my knee." I lie, covering my knee.
"Oh." Riley shrugs and turns to Lucas, batting her lashes.
"Riley, I have to tell you something." Lucas says. I look fearfully at him. Don't hurt her. "I like Maya. I always have and I'm pretty sure I always will. So stop chasing me and look at whats right in front of you." Lucas says, gesturing to the sad look Farkle has on his face.
"But Maya isn't–she just isn't–"
"Isn't what?" I ask angrily.
"Isn't ME." Riley says. I'm taken aback and hurt. How dare she say that.
"Riley, I love Maya. Not you. But do you know who does love you? Farkle. So go be with him. He wants to make you happy. So make him happy by letting him make you happy." Lucas finishes and nudges Riley towards Farkle. Farkle catches her and smiles shyly. Riley shrugs and Farkle kisses her. On the lips. For like...twenty seconds.
"Woah." I whisper to Lucas. "Who knew Farkle could be so bold?"
"When he wants something he goes and gets it. I admire that quality of him." Lucas says happily.
When Riley and Farkle break apart I almost laugh at both of their expressions. Riley looks extremely shocked and impressed while Farkle looks extraordinarily happy and the smirk on his face was so utterly un-Farkle-y.
"Well that was nice." Riley admitted, making Farkle beam with pride.
I grinned, looking at Lucas happily.
Other people's happiness makes me more happy than my own happiness, surprisingly.
"That just makes you humble and kind." Lucas whispers. Clearly I had said that last thought out loud but this time I didn't care. Because I love Lucas and know that he would never hurt me.
