PLEASE READ MY NEW STORY: FATE, COINCIDENCE & TRIPLE AXELS AS I'VE ABANDONED THIS ONE!! x

*Fifteen years and three months later

The looming mist brushed my legs as I trailed them along the empty shore. Tomorrow is the first day of high school. Just thinking of it, made my mouth numb. I can't, I just possibly can't! Without revealing my secret in swimming. You might've guessed already, haven't you? This is what happens when you contain The Sea in your blood, you can't touch water just like in movies?! In movies is all tales on merMAIDS, we don't call them that of a stupid name, it's just... mer.

*

"Allison!" My twelve year old brother- Adam, tugged on the bedsheet as I groaned out of bed. "First day of high, aye?" He smiled sheepishly at me. I forced a smile back at him while he bounced down the hall.

"Tell mum I'll be there in a sec'!" I called to him. Adam nodded.

I pulled out my phone and texted my best friend in a hurry. She's... like me, we both contain the Sea in us, and it is SO hard to find someone that can understand you so completely. I don't understand how to hide my chance of us turning into Mers in front of EVERYONE in your swimming class. School starts in about an hour, I have enough time to be ready. Today is the first day of the new high school that my best friend-Moon and I can attend together. It makes it a thousand times more interesting. I threw on some makeup, did my hair, then walked down the hallway with my bag to eat breakfast.

"Morning love," my mum said to me gently as I nested myself into one of the barstools, "you excited?"

"Only with Moon, so lucky I've got her. But it's going to be a huge struggle... I don't know." I murmured.

"Allison, it's not a huge struggle." Adam said, almost teasingly.

I through him a glance: "Only if you are a quarter fish!"

Adam shrugged, biting into his omelette. My original dad was half Mer as well, but he ran away to sea just after I was born, that's what my adoption mother told me anyway. He never came back. But as times goes on, mum finds herself a true husband after adopting me, Roger, and had Adam two years later. Making me fifteen. Roger comes five days a week after work, a job as a professional free diver.

I thanked mum for a delicious breakfast of omelette and orange juice. Then suddenly, beep beep, came ringing through my phone. It's a text from Moon, saying when and where to meet, "and pack for the awful swimming class" was the rest of her sentence. I sighed, there's got to be ways to hide the tail, although I can't think of one now. I packed my bag and slipped into some trendy sandals and walked towards the car.

*sometime while driving towards the high

"Mum.." I called to her.

"Yes?"

"How am I suppose to hide my tail?" I asked cautiously. This is my personality, quiet, mysterious, independent. While Moon is totally an opposite from me: bubbly, loud, confident. She usually gets all the attention, probably making me sometime almost....jealous.

"Just tell the coach you can't swim." Adam suggested with a smile.

I raised my eyebrow at him and laughed, "Yeah right, then they will start a whole summer term of training Moon and I how to swim. Does that make any difference?"

"Ugh stop it Allison! You always disagree from my opinion when I'm trying to help?! You're SO annoying sometimes!" Adam yelled at me of frustration, "just stop, okay?"

"Whatever." I looked outside, the rain sliding down the car window, perfect weather for the first day of school, I thought.

My mum turned her head towards in my direction: "It can't be that bad, you'll have Moon! It's a new high school so the facilities must be amazing," she paused, "I'll see you at the end of the week!"

"Oh." I forgot totally that this school is sorta boarding school, "yeah.?"

In front of me, huge open silver gates greeted me. "Goodbye, see ya at the end of the week." I hopped out of the car and waved, my bag on my shoulder, my outfit perfect.

"Time to find Moon..." I mumbled to myself quietly, as the light rain slid along my golden hair.
