Amara's POV:
Something I've learned in my six years alive is that confidence is the best first impression. Therefore, even though my first instinct was to hide, I went and introduced myself to Karlie, and soon after, to Taylor's parents. Within my wide array of talents, I am good at reading people, and I feel like everything is going pretty okay so far.

I probably should NOT have launched into coding this early on, but I wanted to make conversation, and the best way to do that is to use a common interest. I use the same method while talking to Taylor's parents, and after a lengthy discussion involving Mere and Dibbles, I feel like we've all warmed up to each other a bit. To be honest, I feel like any parent would worry if their superstar daughter called them up one random night and explained that she was suddenly fostering a six year old!!

I know the main thing they're going to be looking for in this visit is whether or whether not Taylor is capable enough to handle me. I know Taylor takes their opinion very seriously so this night? Très importante!!

Soon after the introductions, we all take our seats and everyone looks over the menu. I already know what I want, so I don't pick up my menu, but I feel like Taylor is going to take it as a sign that I don't understand what the stuff is. Sure enough, I look up and see her eyes trained on me from across the table. Anticipating her question, I tell her that I'm good to go and she curiously leans back in amusement.  Approximately a minute later, the waiter arrives and starts jotting down orders. When he gets to my end of the table he turns to Taylor and asks what I'm having? Aha no. I can order by myself thank you very much.  I turn to the waiter and clearly say:

"I would like the berry blast smoothie, and the raw pesto linguine kids size"

I sit back as I watch him as well as the others at the table glance at me in surprise. He looks at Taylor for confirmation, and when she nods subtly, he quickly jots it down, smiles, and then hurries away.

I'm not liking the curious nagging glances being shot my way. For all my smarts why can't I manage to be normal for one night? A week? As the curious lingering expressions slowly shift away all I can feel is an overwhelming sadness. I start to play with my hair subconsciously, but quickly stop when I remember what Taylor said the other day. As I steal a quick glance at Taylor, I nearly jump out of my seat when I realize she's been watching me, and as if reading my thoughts she pushes back her chair, gets up, and tells everyone that she and I are going to go check out the fish tank. The table laughs, and I take the opportunity to shoot her a look, but she's not taking no for an answer. Quickly, I push back my chair, smile for the benefit of the table, and make my way to Taylor. As we approach the fish tank, I feel her looking at me and I decide to feign confusion, but one look from Taylor Swift throws my acting out the window. Sighing, she crosses her arms and starts talking:

"Amara I saw the hair pulling, I saw the fidgeting, and I saw and still am seeing your expression.. Is there anything you want to talk about?"

The words are out of of my mouth before I can stop them:

"Taylor I'm not normal and no matter how hard I try I can't even manage it for a hour. I can't be six!! I'm trying but I can't."

Looking up at her, this was clearly not what she was expecting, but she regains composure in probably three seconds flat. She softens her voice and shakes her head in disbelief:

Taylor: "Who said you have to be normal? who said that you can't show off how awesome and unique you are. Why are you tied up on this concept of normalcy? I didn't tell you to act this way. You put the idea that you need to be normal in your own head"

She looks at me closely and continues:

"Don't try to be someone else just because you think other people will like you better. I've tried that and trust me, it doesn't work. Unique and different is the next generation of beautiful, and you are the most beautiful talented and gorgeous person I know. Your talents are a gift, not a curse, and I love you because of your quirks, not in spite of them".

I look at her and my lips quirk up in a half smile. She smiles back at me and we both turn our attention to the fish tank for a bit before we head back. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm starting to get attached to her, and with her amazing advice and hugs, she's not making it too difficult.I make my way back to the table grinning from ear to ear, and soon the waiter arrives and food is served

The pasta and shake I ordered are every bit as amazing as I thought they would be!! Eating in a restaurant is so much fun, and this was an awesome awesome first experience. Taylor's dad sparks a conversation about the stock market, and I'm really happy that when I jump in and talk about Wall Street and Syrian policy no one blinks an eye. Taylor was right, but then again, in the two days I've known her, when has she not been right?

Looking over at her, she and Adam are laughing while they talk to her parents, and I realize what I need to do. Turning to Karlie who is sitting next to me, I tap her shoulder and she looks up and smiles:
Amara: "Hi! Did you mean what you said about the coding thing?"

She grins in response and replies yes. It's now or never Amara.. :

Amara: "Do you think we could do something tomorrow? I want to give Taylor a break, and if your not busy it would be awe-"

Karlie cuts me off and squeals in excitement:
: "I would love that and it would be so much fun!! Maybe at 3 you could come over and we could get ice cream and code!! Let me go ask Taylor if that's ok.."
She gets up, walks to Taylor, and informs her of our plans. To my surprise, she nods ok almost immediately and Karlie makes her way back, a look of triumph on her face.

Karlie: "Ok kiddo, we're on for tomorrow!"

I can't contain my excitement. Brilliantly executed plan Amara!! One thing I don't want Taylor to feel is that she's tied down with me. Adam's only gonna be here for 3 more days before he has to go to LA, and they probably would've been spending quality time together it it weren't for me. This gets me out of the apartment for three hours at least, and honestly, I really like Karlie. I can't wait to polish up on coding tomorrow. Squeeeeeeee!!!
