Chapter three- Late

3 weeks and four days later 10th of October

Jo rushes around the loft, trying to find her left shoe in all the mess of packing. The couple had brought a five bedroom house three streets away and were due to move in in two weeks so boxes and chaos overruled their current Loft. They had managed to sell the place, getting an impressive $502, 000 for the sale. The new owners would move into the place in one month so Alex and Jo had to make sure that the place was spotless for their impending arrival.

"Have you checked your wardrobe?" Alex asks as he packs some china plates into the kitchen box.

"Yes, It's not there," Jo says panicking as she looks through boxes.

"How about the box that you have dedicated to your shoes? Have you checked there?" Alex asks.

Jo looks up, realising that she was yet to check this box for her missing shoe. she rushes over to the box, which was down in the left hand corner of the room. She opens it and finds the shoe on top.

"Ah! Found it!" she says victoriously as she slips the shoe into her foot. She walks over to Alex, who was nearly smiling at the blondness of his wife. She kisses him and Alex happily returns the kiss. "You Mr Karev are my lifesaver. I was running around like a headless chicken trying to fine my shoe while you kept your cool. That's just another reason why I love you," She smiles.

"I know," Alex replies. "I've got a conference at 1pm so I wont be in at the hospital today," he adds.

"Okay," Jo smiles. She gives him another kiss before rushing out of the door. The truth was that Jo wasn't stressing out because she couldn't find her left shoe. That was the furthest ting from her mind. The truth was that Jo was stressing out because today she was officially two weeks late for her monthly period. Yes, there could be a million other reasons why she was late, but the one that kept creeping across her mind was pregnancy. It was the most logical and common reason a girl was late for their period.

"Hi!" Steph says as she joins Jo in walking down the hallway to the residents lounge.

"Hi," Jo replies stressfully.

"What's up? You seem frazzled," Steph replies.

"Oh, Moving, packing, its very stressful. I couldn't find my shoe this morning," Jo says brushing off Steph's remark.

"Really?" she asks surprised, "When I moved I thought it was stress free," she adds.

"Well, we have a lot of stuff," Jo says rebutting Steph's comment. She didn't want anybody to key onto the idea that she thinks that she may be pregnant. Why was the first signs of pregnancy always the girls problem? No guy has the stress when a woman is two weeks late. Most men don't even know that there partners suspect that they could be pregnant. They just go about their lives like normal people while the girl does all the stressing.

"I'm on yang's service today, what about you?" Steph asks.

"I'm with Meredith," Jo says.

"Why are we never on the same service anymore?" Steph complains.

"I don't know. You wanna take that up with Richard?" Jo asks.

"What have we got?" Jo asks Meredith as she walks into trauma Bay 4.

"This is Jane Wilkerson. She's 11 and fell of her bike. She's fractured or possibly broken her right arm, we'll know more when we do a scan," Meredith says. "Her arm is safely in a sling right now so I want you to clean up her grazes and cuts," she instructs.

Jo lifts up a bandage off one cut and begins to gag. She struggles to control the gagging and in an effort not to throw up all over Jane she covers her mouth and rushes over to the nearest bin and throw up. April, Meredith and Owen, who were all down in emergency look on concerned as the young woman throws up several times.

"Wilson, if you are sick you need to go home. I cant have you being sick on a patient," Own says walking over to her.

She looks up at him. "No, no, I'm fine. I just had something bad for dinner last night," she says contesting Owen's statement.

"You are as pale as a ghost, Go home and drink plenty of fluids. We'll see you tomorrow," Owen instructs.

"I'm fine, I can stay," Jo protests.

"Wilson, go home. I don't want you throwing up last nights bad bit of dinner all over the patients," Owen says sternly.

Why did she have to go and throw up in the ER. Why couldn't that happen where nobody could see her and be none the wiser? If nobody knew that she had been sick they wouldn't be sending her home. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Knowing that she was defeated she took the lift up to the third level, where the residents lounge was located. She picks up her things and heads out to her car where she proceeds to dive back to the loft.

"Hey," she says as she walks into the loft and sees Alex sitting at the dining table enjoying some food.

"Why are you home so soon? Is everything okay?" Alex asks as Jo walks over to him.

"Owen sent me home sick," Jo says rolling her eyes. "Yum," Jo says looking at and then taking a piece of his lunch.

"Hey!" Alex says.

"Sorry," Jo says taking a bite of the food.

Later that night Jo and Alex sit in their bed. The couple were snuggling tightly together.

"Alex?" Jo says looking up at him, but she's careful not to break the snuggle.

"Yes, " He replies.

"I think I'm pregnant," She replies.
