Six months later....
It was a happy, summer day, which was all year round in Heaven. In the Heaven Hogwarts castle, resting in the Gryffindor common room, was Petunia. She was stretched out on the sofa by the fireplace and waited for them all to return. The return of her new, improved family.
Not, of course that she would ever consider Dudley not to be family. She awaited his time patiently, dreading the sad news of the estrangement from her husband.
She also hoped to see Harry one day in this paradise. She so wanted to show off her already superb skills as a witch and express her gratitude and true sorrow for her past misdeeds.
Petunia's classes were most fascinating. Her teacher for Defence Against the Dark Arts, was of course, Remus. He was most excellent as a teacher, thought she. He was so patient, so wise and so agreeable in his theories. His classes were of course, redundant due to the peace of Heaven, but Petunia was set on learning everything her sister before her had done. She was quite adequate after some verbal encouragement from Remus.
Her History of Magic classes were indeed fun, as promised by Tonks, plus also quite funny, when Tonks tripped over something when giving an image of certain historical parts of wizard history. Usually Petunia wouldn't have tolerated such clumsiness, but she had certainly changed since her life on Earth, under Vernon's claws.
Albus and Ariana's classes of Transfiguration were also fun, but difficult. Albus was strict, as a good teacher always was, but a twinkle in his eye indicated he was happy to be teaching again. Ariana was more fun and tolerant, and outside of class, she and Petunia had become best friends. Petunia would visit the Dumbledore Heaven residence for dinner every week, or whenever her sisters wanted some alone time.
Severus had indeed agreed to teach Potions again, but due to his and Petunia's indifferent relationship, he was often helped or watch over by his wife and on occasion, Albus. But eventually, after much harsh training, he managed to get Petunia to reach the level of potion making as her sister had succeeded in her first year, and he showed to be very impressed. He and Petunia were certainly on better terms, but still had a way to go before they could completely forgive each other's sins.
James taught her to fly. He was confident always, boosting Petunia's own, and although she had a great fear for flying, when she was first able to kick off the ground, under James' close supervision, she felt the wonderful sensation that he, Harry and many others felt when they first flew. Petunia was very proud, as was James and promised to help teach her Quidditch in her second year.
Both Lilys taught Charms. They had always enjoyed that class with Professor Flitwick and now had the chance to do it themselves. They helped Petunia master the Levitation Charm perfectly and whenever they set homework, they would immediately offer to help. In fact, everyone except Albus offered to help Petunia with her magic homework, but she refused. She wanted to learn it all herself, and all believed that Albus never offered because he knew she would make that decision.
Astronomy and Herbology were taught by Sirius. He was most happy to help Petunia in his classes, and proved to be quite a good teacher, although of course, he might have been better at Defence Against the Dark Arts. Petunia particularly liked Herbology, as it gave her new gardening opportunities. Sirius and Petunia certainly enjoyed their times together, and why shouldn't they? After all...they were now married.
Sirius had professed his feelings for Petunia a little time after her rescue from Privet Drive and proposed to her, much to everyone's joy and utter surprise. Petunia realised her reciprocation and eagerly accepted. Albus ordained the ceremony, like he had with Severus and Lily Snape's wedding, Ariana was the maid of honour, as it caused less trouble if the two Lilys were bridesmaids. Remus, Tonks, Severus and Peter were special guests and James was of course, Sirius' best man. Dobby took charge of the reception and food. It was a happy day. And Petunia finally felt she belonged.
Petunia had hobbies too. Outside of class and visitations to the Snapes and Dumbledores, Petunia would help Dobby with the cooking, much to the elf's delight. She even gave him some of her own recipes. Also, she grew plants of magical use in the grounds, though under great supervision from Sirius and Albus.
As Petunia dozed by the fire, thinking and dreaming peacefully of her happy afterlife, the portrait door opened and Sirius, James and Lilys Potter and Snape came in. They sat down beside her and she woke.
"Are you happy today, Tuney?" asked Sirius.
"Yes, dear." yawned Petunia prettily.
"Good." smiled Sirius and James.
"Ariana's invited you to meet her new boyfriend." said Lily Snape.
"Who's that?" asked Petunia.
"Elphias Doge." replied Lily Potter, "Old friend of Albus'. Quite handsome in a young age."
"Uh-oh!" gasped James with exaggeration, "I have competition-AGAIN!"
Everyone laughed and Petunia realised she had never laughed so heartily in her past life, and knew that this was going to last forever......
End of story talk: Sorry once again for the delay, what with college and work in the way! So anyway, that's the end of my second Harry Potter Afterlife series completed! I hope you all liked Petunia's story. I felt sorry for her when I first read that she wanted to go to Hogwarts too, and felt overshadowed by Lily, so I wanted to make it right for her. Did you see her and Sirius getting together coming?
But these stories have not finished yet. I have one more Afterlife story to write, it will be called Harry Potter and the Afterlife Paradise. It will complete this set of stories and continue from the epilogue of Snape's Reward. This story was set in-between Snape's Reward and the epilogue. So, please comment and vote for this story and please read the third and final story of the collection! Thank you for reading! :)
