Ice cream!

It's been a week since I've seen Eric but today he's taking me to get some ice cream. I can't wait! I have a month and a half left until I get out of this stupid wheelchair but my mom is taking me to the doctor next week to see if I can get out early and stay on crutches.
I'm dreading this wheelchair because I can't even go into my room! I haven't been there since we got back and I miss my bed. It's 12:00 now and Eric is picking me up at 2:00. I wheel myself outside and I see Kath writing in her notebook and Dani on the trampoline. I wheel up next to Kath and when she sees me she stops writing.
"Hey Lise" she says and I wave.
"Writing a poem?" I ask her and she nods
"Going out with Eric today I see" she says while grinning and I blush.
"I'm glad you met him Lisa he's good for you" she tells me and I nod in agreement. Ever since I met Eric my life has been better and I'm not all upset anymore but I still have my moments. But when Eric saved me that one day I knew he was gonna be there for me when I need him. I watch as Dani does flips and all these tricks on the trampoline, god how much I miss that.
"Lise you okay?" Kath asked me and I nodded my head
"Just wanna get out of this thing" I tell her and with that I go inside leaving a confused Kath outside. I wheel myself into the living room and see Lauren on her phone and Christina watching tv.
"Hey guys" I said and they both wave.
"Lise Nick is coming over later tonight" she tells me and I smile, Nick is like my big brother and I haven't seen him after all this but Christina has.
"Cool!" I tell her and she smiles, Nick is honestly the greatest.
"So Lisa you got a date with Eric" Lauren tells me and I blush.
"It's not a date Lauren it's just for ice cream" I tell her and she laughs,
"That's what they all say" she says while snickering and I pick up a pillow and chuck it at her and it hits her in the face.
She rubbed her nose and looked at me with a serious face and then started laughing. She can't keep a serious face for us for her life, in an interview yes but with us not a chance.
I decided to watch some tv for the time being until Eric shows up. About an hour later I hear the doorbell. Must be Eric and I start to smile.
"I got it!" Lauren calls out and goes and opens the door and in comes Eric.
"Hey Laur!"
"Hey Erico" Lauren says back, Lauren loves to call him that for some reason which I don't know.
"Ready Lise?" He asks me and I nod
"Take care of her Eric!" Christina shouts as we walk out the door. He picks me up and puts me in the passenger seat and we drive off to get ice cream.
About 10 minutes later we go and order our ice cream
"Can I get 2 rocky roads please" Eric asked and then he payed and we waited a minute and he got our ice cream. I wheeled myself over near a bench and Eric walked over and handed me my ice cream and sat down.
"This is so good" Eric says and I laugh and nod in agreement.
"So you guys know when your gonna make another video?" Eric asked me
"Next week were gonna make a QnA video" I tell him and he nods.
"So you know a lot about me but what about you? Like what's your job, funny I never asked you" I tell him because he knows a lot about me but I don't know too much about him.
"Well I'm in the police academy right now and graduating in 3 months" he tells me and I looked shocked, he's gonna be a police officer?
"Wow that's cool!" I tell him and he nods
"My pops was one" he tells me and I nod, wait did he say was? His face saddened when he mentioned his dad, did something happen?
"Are you okay Eric?" I ask him and he nods
"I should probably tell you" he says and looks at me.
"You don't have to say anything you don't want to, you know that right" I tell him and he nods.
"I know but I need to tell someone" he says and he takes a deep breath.
"Well about a year ago me and Luke were driving home from a concert but then my car broke down and I called my dad to come pick us up" he starts and I hold his hand and give it a squeeze and he looks at me and smiles.
"We were waiting for hours and then I got a call, they said my parents were in a car wreck" he said with his voice shaky.
"They told me my dad died on impact and my mom was going critical, they sent a police cruiser and picked us up and brought us to the hospital" he says and I had tears of my own coming down my face.
"I was able to see my mom, she told me to protect my brother and always do the right thing and then she went, Luke was hysterical and I was just a wreck. I knew I had to protect my brother so we decided to pick up and move away because we didn't want people's pity, and here we are in Nashville and I wanna become a cop to make my dad proud." He finishes with a tear falling from his eye.
I hug him but don't speak and we just stay there.
"We should get back" he tells me and I nod, he brings me to the car and drives me home.
"Eric, if theirs anything you need ever, call me okay" I tell him and he nods
"Only if you do the same" he tells me and I nod.
"Luke has been getting a lot better and ever since he met Lauren he's actually been happy" he tells me and I nod.
"He said he's gonna play soccer for his new school" he said and I smiled
"That's great, we will definitely come watch" I tell him.
"But I've finally been able to become happy because I met someone" he says
"Who?" I ask
"You" he says and I blush.
Before we know it were already home and he brings me inside and I hug him the best I could.
"Text me when you get home" I tell him and he nods and drives away.
I go over to the couch and manage to get out of the wheelchair and lie down on the couch. I just think about what he said, I made him happy but I didn't tell him how he makes me happy. Oh well I'll tell him another day but for now I want some sleep. I close my eyes and fall into a pit of darkness.

We can survive if we stick together
