Why did I go to that crime scene? Oh, why did I? Was I really stupid enough to go? Yes I was.
"Don't worry. He can't do anything to you. He'll be in cuffs Penny. Just remember that." Lois reassured me as I nodded. We were on our way to the kryptonian wreckage and we were almost there. A lot had already happened, including the death of Superman. So I was naturally surprised when she looked at me and said get in the car. But I complied despite this.
"Why are we even going again?" Lois sighed. I continued to rest my chin in my palm and stare out the window. I watched the rain come down and crash and fall into the ground as I felt my world crashing and falling.
"I need to report it before someone else does." I nodded. Of course she needed to. Lois was always one to be greedy for a scoop. "And, you're going to break up with him." My eyes bulged, I turned towards her.
"Excuse muah?" She exhaled again. She would probably be looking at me with disappointment if she could take her eyes off the road.
"You have to do this at some point. This might be the last time you ever see him. You have to do it now...Don't you think?" I saw her reasoning yet I still didn't want to.
"I'm not sure..."
"Penny. You have to end this. It's for your own sake. Now or never."
"...I was...originally planning on never?" she pulled up into the parking lot, parking the car as she found an appropriate place for it. She turned to me and smiled sadly.
"I know. But if you don't..."
"I know I know." I began to take off my seat belt as she did also. As I closed the door I looked at her and bit my lip. "Sometimes...Things just don't work out I guess..." my eyes looked at the ground. She nodded.
"Yes. Now. We must go..." she began to walk to the wreckage and I followed her. It was surprising how easy it was to get in. Besides from the occasional 'you can't be here', and Lois having to show her ID, it was all simple. All a blur. It was a blur until I saw him. I looked down as I watched him look at me and chuckle.
He walked towards me and while he was hand cuffed, the police seemed to be distracted. "Emily. Penny. Cosnette." I jumped at the sound of his voice before looking up at him. Everything around us was now a blur as he smirked a little. I knew I'd miss that little smirk. The way he'd look at me and the way his lips would just delicately curl. "I knew you'd come."
As he took a step towards me I took a step back. He frowned and tilted his head.
"Now don't be afraid--"
"This is over." I finally said, inhaling and exhaling quickly. He seemed even more confused.
"Emily darling..." he chuckled. "What do you--"
"Whatever we have. Whatever this is its..." I shook my head quickly as his smile wilted like a flower. "It's over. Done. No longer..." he took another step closer.
"Darling there's nothing to be afraid of--"
"No." I backed away as he grunted. The police came up behind him and began to restrain him. "Don't call me darling. You don't get to call me that. You and I are no more."
"Emily wait."
"Goodbye Lex Luthor." I shook my head.
"Emily. Don't take another step away from me." I shook my head again, backing away even more. "No...no..." he growled. He began to try to walk towards me. He thrashed, trying to step towards me desperately. My breath hitched in my throat.
"Mr Luthor--"
"Get your hands off me!" Lex yelled as he then got his hands away. He ran towards me. I gasped as I felt almost unable to move. He quickly grabbed my cheeks and slammed his lips onto mine. My eyes were wide open. He held onto me roughly, his hands shaking as if he were about to loose his grip on me. I slowly closed my eyes and kissed him back. I could feel him smile. He pulled away and massaged my cheeks slightly. He placed his hand on the back of my neck.
"I know you feel the same as I do, my darling. Do not hide that from me." I gasped as the police came back and began to restrain him again. Lex was now forced onto his knees yet he looked at me and smiled.
"My darling...I will be back my darling...Just tell me you love me and I'll be okay..." I shook my head.
"No Lex..." he smiled wider as the men picked him up. He shook his head and stared at me.
"Tell me you love me. Just say it. Say you love me. I love you..." I remained silent. His body began to shake violently. "Say it. I love you Penny and I know you feel the same about me so just say it...Say it..." he repeated over and over again. I could feel my eyes tear up. As the men began to drag him away.
"SAY IT!" he screamed again. "Say it! Say you love me! Just tell me those words..." He growled. Lois came to me offered her arms. I hugged her and began to cry into her shoulder. "Just tell me you love me! TELL ME YOU LOVE ME! I LOVE YOU! JUST TELL ME YOU LOVE ME! EMILY!" his screams became more and more distant. "I LOST SOMEONE ONCE AND I WILL NOT LOOSE AGAIN! SAY IT! JUST SAY IT! EMILY!"
"He's insane..." Lois stated as I shook my head.
"He's hurt..."
"EMILY!...EMILY!" I cried even more as he continued to scream and wish for my attention. Lois looked in Lex's direction and shook her head.
"You monster." she spat in his direction. It was true. Lex Luthor really was the monster Lois had previously told me he was. My question was now, just what was I going to do?
