(Rebecca's POV)
I start walking to class. Oh, school. Why do you have to be so rude? Kidding, kidding. I actually really like school. I mean, what's not to love? All my friends are here, teacher's love me, and I got the most loving boyfriend in the world. Did I mention I'm popular? Well, I am.
I'm not one of those popular girls from Mean Girls or something, though. I'm actually pretty nice towards people. Including animals. Those creatures are my life source, I swear.
Anyway, back to the present. When I walk into class, biology, I see a girl in the back sitting in the seat right next to mine. What's her name again? Cindy? Cassandra? Her name probably doesn't even start with a C.
"Hello," I say when I sit next to her.
She didn't answer. She just kept her face on her arms.
"What's your name?"
"Nicco," she whispered some what.
Oh. So her name doesn't start with a C.
"Hello, Nicco. I'm Rebecca. Are you new here?" I question.
"No. I've been here since the beginning of the year."
Wow, way to feel like an A-hole Beck.
"I'm sorry. I'm going to be perfectly honest when I say I have never noticed you. Not saying that in a mean way, but you get what I mean," I reply.
She looked up at me.
"I know what you mean," she said with a giggle.
Now that I actually get a good look at her, she's quite pretty.
"So, how are you?" I say, trying to make conversation.
Honestly, so far, I find Nicco fascinating. True, she might be an outcast but something about her aura sends this weird type of vibe to my heart.
"Doing better than yesterday. I'm not as sick anymore," she said.
"That's good," I reply.
"Yeah, it is. May I ask you a question?" she asked.
"Well, of course."
"Why are you talking to me? Like, out of all the people you could've talked to, why me?" she asked.
That actually took me off guard.
"Why would I not?"
"I don't know. You never talked to me before. Like you said, you never knew I existed," she replied.
"I didn't say that. You're just to shy and stuff like that. And to answer your question, I just thought you needed a friend. Honestly, so do I," I tell her honestly.
I wasn't lying when I said I needed a friend, either.
"But you're popular! You have so many friends. You don't need a loser like me for a friend."
"All my friends are what some people would call fake. I mean, some of them are my actual friends but not all."
"Oh. Okay," Nicco said.
"Yeah. So, best friends?" I question.
"So it's best friends now?" she replied with a smirk.
"Well, yeah! I mean, if you want to be."
"I would be delighted," Nicco said in a more confident tone.
"Yay! Okay, so what do I call you?"
"Excuse me?" she questioned, confused.
"What do I call you? Like a nickname," I said, being more clear on what I meant.
"Oh. Umm...Nick."
"Perfect. Call me Beck."
The bell finally rung.
Nicco, I mean Nick, and I passed notes the whole class period.
Luckily, we didn't get caught.
Authors note- Okay, I literally just thought of this story last week. It might not be the best, which I know it won't be. But hopefully you beautiful people like it! Honestly, this first chapter was not supposed to be this long. But every time I wanted to stop it, it didn't make sense to stop it where I wanted to. But I finally finished the first chapter! Yay!
