Family Matters Most

Chapter Five :

I woke up early because Lily wanted to have a girls day, so Audrey, Alex, Lily, and I are all going to Atlanta for the day. I shook Shane's arm, "Mmm," he said. "We're going to Atlanta, we'll be back this evening," I said. He sat up and kissed me, "Be careful baby, I love you and Alex," Shane said. "I love you too. You and Matt don't cause too much trouble here," I chuckled. He smirked and I went to get Alex ready. Lily and Audrey were already up and getting ready. "Come on Alex get up," I said. She wrapped her blanket around her tighter and rolled over. "Alex, you're being like your daddy, now come on if you wanna go with us to Atlanta," I said. She still didn't move, "Okay, going to get your daddy," I said as I walked out of the room. I heard her run down the hallway, "No mommy! Don't get daddy!" She exclaimed. Shane stepped out of our room, "What about me?" He asked. She squealed and ran back to her room. Shane looked at me, "What was that about?" I laughed, "She wouldn't get up so I told her I was coming to get you." He laughed and followed me to Alex's room.

We all piled into the car while Shane buckled Alex into her car seat, "Be good for mommy," he said. Alex grinned. He kissed me and we left for Atlanta.

"Mommy I'm hungry," Alex whined. I looked at Audrey, "Baby we'll get something once we get there." She groaned.

30 minutes later we pulled up to a Denny's and went in. We ordered and then I called Shane,

Shane - "Hey baby, everything okay?"

Hannah - "Yeah. Just calling to let you know we've made it to Atlanta and we're eating at Denny's." Alex asked, "Mommy who are you talking to?" I looked at her, "Your daddy." She reached for my phone, "I wanna say hi." I handed her the phone.

Alex - "Hi daddy!"

Shane - *chuckles* "Hi baby doll."

Alex - "Mommy let me order bacon!"

Shane - "You're going to turn into bacon."

Alex - "Nuh uh daddy!"

Shane laughed some more and Alex handed me my phone back. We finished up our conversation because the food arrived. We ate silently, with a little bit of small talk.

I parked my SUV in a parking garage and we started going into different shops down the streets of Atlanta. Two or three hours later Alex started to get tired, "Mommy, can we go home?" She asked. I picked her up and looked at Audrey, "Yeah we'll leave soon." We finished up two more shops and headed back to the parking garage. I buckled Alex in while Audrey and Lily put all of our bags into the back. We all got in and headed out of Atlanta.

An hour later we were back in King County. "Aud, will you call Shane and tell him to watch for us?" She dialed his number and talked to him. Shane met us outside and carried Alex in and laid her down on the couch while Lily, Audrey, and I carried in all of the bags.
