Family Matters Most

Chapter Four :

Time Skip ~ 2 weeks later
Matt, Lily, and Audrey are coming to our house today and the high school prom is tonight too. Several girls were coming over for me to do their makeup.

Shane and Alex were out back when there was a knock on the door, "Hey Abby!" I said when I opened the door and stepped out of the way. "Hi Hannah," she smiled. We went into the kitchen and discussed what she was wanting. I did her makeup, she left, and then I joined Shane and Alex outside for a few minutes. "Alex, do you want a snack?" I asked. "Yes mommy," she said. Shane carried her into the house and I made Alex and Shane some peanut butter crackers. The next girl showed up and Shane and Alex watched while I worked. "Mommy I wanna do that," she said. "Do what baby girl?" I glanced at her. "What you're putting on her face," she said. Shane chuckled, "You don't need that yet, baby doll." Alex pouted, "But it'll make me pretty," Shane kissed her head, "You are pretty, Alex." Sarah, the girl I was putting makeup on said, "She is so cute." I smiled, "Thank you, she's a handful. Shane is too." I said and Shane said, "Hey! I am not." I looked at him, "Keep telling yourself that pretty boy." We all laughed.

As I was finishing up the last girl there was a knock at the door, "I'll get it," Shane said from the living room. "Uncle Shane," I heard Lily exclaim. "Where's Aunt Hannah? I wanna see her!" Lily said excitedly. "In here Lil," I said. I heard her drop something then come running. "Hi Aunt Hannah, I've missed you!" She said as she engulfed me in a hug. "I've missed you too! Let me finish Tiffany's makeup and then we'll talk," I said. She nodded and ran out of the room, "Uncle Shane!" She exclaimed. "She's excited, does she live far away?" Tiffany asked. "Yeah, they live in Jacksonville, Florida," I replied, "We only get to see them in the summer or on major holidays." I finished up her makeup and she left. I walked into the living room, "Matt, Audrey," I said. Matt turned around, "Hey girl," he said as he hugged me. Matt is Shane's older brother and Audrey is his wife. "Move Matt," Audrey said as she pushed him out of the way, "Hannah," she said as she hugged me, "You look great." I smiled, "Thanks Aud, you do too."

The boys wee grilling out and Alex, Audrey, Lily, and I all sat by the pool. "Aunt Hannah," Lily said. "Yeah Lil?" I replied. "Can we have a girls day tomorrow?" She asked. I smiled at her, "Of course we can." Alex was running back and forth between Shane and I, "Alex don't run, you might fall," Shane said. "So Matt, how long do y'all plan to visit?" Shane asked. "A few days, not too long tho. I have to get back to work," Matt replied.

The boys finished grilling and we all went in and ate. Around 9:00 pm, I helped Alex get ready for bed and Shane and I told her good night. Audrey told Lily she should go to bed too so she went upstairs. Audrey and I were catching up in the living room while Shane and Matt were talking too in the kitchen. "Well, I'm gonna go to bed. See y'all in the morning," I said as I kissed Shane and went upstairs.
