"Now I'm proud to present you valedictorian, Celeste Robinson." The crowd cheered for me. Ugh, this is terrifying and brilliant! I took my spot at the podium and tried to recite the speech that I have said over and over again.
"Finally, to all of you graduates sitting in front of me, with whom I've shared many fond memories with. I hope as we end this chapter of our lives, we are also ready to start a new life. I wish you all the best, good luck and we made it. Congratulations, class of 2015!"
(time gap)
I stayed in my house most of the summer. I took a gap year and finally decided to tell my parents that I wanted to study abroad.
"Aborad? Where would you like to go?"
"As white girl as it sounds, I want to go to the UK."
"That could be fun."
"I hope so. I still don't know what I want to major in."
"What about film? You always make those 2 minute videos, why not go to college for it and get better?"
"I don't know. I want to make a living and have a guaranteed job."
"It's whatever you want. We'll support you the whole way."
(Another large time gap)
I've made nearly 20 videos since I applied to Imperial College London in entrepreneurship, London Business School for business management and Royal Holloway for drama just because, but also minor in entrepreneurship.
For Royal Holloway I have to audition but since I'm in America, I will have to send it to the drama executive. I literally have no idea what I should do, but I need 5 minutes worth of video. One minute per video and the videos have to be 2 singing, one a Capella and one with a track, then 3 performances, monologue, dialogue and improvised skit based on a scene they send me and I have to open on camera then begin.
(Time gap)
"Hey guys, so I got accepted into -drum roll please- ROYAL HOLLOWAY IN LONDON! Ah! I can't believe I got accepted into university IN London! I promise I'll vlog on the way and my life in London and whatever else you guys want to see in my life."
I looked down at my college acceptance letter.
"Oh my gosh, I have a full ride scholarship!!!!!"
I felt my eyes tear up. I can't believe this was actually happening.
"Oh! I also have made a friend in the UK recently and she has been telling me about the London life and I'll be staying with her because she starting uni as well and we're going to try to get a room together as we are studying in the same field. Well kind of the same, I'm doing theater and she's doing film."
(Time gap because i'm trying to do a major events collage.)
"Okay, So I'm off to the airport and I have a bunch of my already bought college decor, which I made a video about I'll link it in the description below, sent to my temporary living space. I'm buying larger things while I'm there"
I closed the camera and got into my uber and we took off to the airport.
We small talked for the ride there. She was very kind and apparently she gets paid the big bucks. I believe it. She has a nice car, it smells good, enough room for my luggage, we also stopped for Dunkin' Doughnuts on the way because we had the time. Her name was Allee.
She was a mixed girl with very short hair. She was wearing a collard shirt, it was blue and khaki shorts with some plain vans. Her seats had warmers and it getting into the fall was wonderful and she even let me have control of the radio. I played Being As An Ocean and she said she would listen to them again.
Once we got to the airport, she helped me get my luggage out and I took her number because I was definitely going to get her when I come to the US again.
I went to go through baggage check and board the plane. No problems. In my carry on, I had my laptop, both video and dslr cameras, phone and a couple books. The flight was only 9 hours, so it wasn't that long. I took a picture of the sky out of the window and played on my laptop for the rest of the flight.
When we landed, I called Kaylee and told her I was here. She was at the gate, I saw her and nearly dropped my phone. I was so excited to see her! I grabbed my luggage and nearly ran to where she was.
I immediately opened my camera and filmed the meeting. She ran to me and nearly knocked me over because of how tiny I was. She was also filming, she was a beauty guru and vlogs on her second channel. Sometimes she travels but she didn't want to put that on her main channel, she then made her second channel. She was pretty popular, she had nearly 100,000 subscribers.
There were many people looking at us but honestly I didn't care. "Kaylee, it's so good to see you!"
"And you love!"
I pulled up my camera and began talking to it.
"Hey guys, so I finally met Kaylee. I know it's all I've been tweeting about but the day has finally come and she is finally here!"
"Awe, Celeste, your american accent is absolutely adorable."
"I don't have an accent, you do."
We finally made it to her parents house, we had lunch, went to the mall, then finally decided to settle down. The boxes I shipped here hasn't arrived but that's okay, we have an entire month to get everything together and that's just move in day.
(Time gap, of course. The story is starting now. Sorry.)
Kaylee was even better in person and her family is just lovely. Her brother, Zach is our age and is also going to Royal Holloway. He's going for writing; he wants to publish a book one day. I believe in him, his stories are spectacular and I have never seen him not typing or writing. Zach is going to go places.
Kaylee and I were lucky enough to be roomed together. Kaylee has an ongoing joke that she requested to have me in her room and I could almost believe her but her brother is a better story teller.
I had strange classes, not your average English, History, Math and all that jazz. I took care of that across the pond by taking classes that counted towards university credits. Instead I'm right into the drama classes. I start with Theater 101 then, Management and Directing then, Improvisation and finally Theater 1.
Kaylee and I have nearly the same schedule. We both start classes at 8 am, have 4 one hour lectures and an hour lunch in between the first two.
