smirks & cocky attitudes

the past couple of weeks were no different for maisy and luke's relationship. it mainly consisted of a million banters, awful fights which resulted in the rest of the boys having to separate the two from each other whether it be about who kicked the other or who sat down on a chair first, and luke's typical horny brain making him intentionally flirt with maisy every now and then. with which "every now and then" meant "every single second luke saw maisy".

it was the fifth period, which was literature, the one period that maisy, luke, and ashton shared. maisy almost requested a subject change until she found out that ashton was in the class as well since she would have not survived the subject from luke's annoying ass.

luke was "conveniently" sat on her right and ashton on her left. unfortunately, maisy was right handed, which meant she was used to looking at the right side. so everyday, not only did luke manage to discreetly kick maisy's chair without getting caught by mr. alex, the teacher, but also sport a cocky grin every time she unintentionally moved her body to the right.

the first few times that it happened, maisy didn't acknowledge luke of it since it would persuade him to kick her chair even harder. She didn't bother telling ashton that luke was annoying her either since he has helped her enough and She didn't want to bother her friend. it had been more than 5 weeks through the school year and maisy was fed up. She was currently facing ashton's side and trying so hard not to notice luke's constant kicking. She could feel the stupid smirk on his face growing every time  she turned and smiled at him hoping he would get the message that she was getting pissed.

thud thud thud thud thud thud

maisy held a deep breath. "ignore him... be the better person...you are calm and collected...don't let him get to you," she whispered

"maisy! i haven't heard your voice this entire class. could you please answer the question?" mr. alex stated.

"uhm...i'm sorry sir could you please repeat the question? i couldn't focus because of the lovely human that  seated to my right." maisy said trying to sound as polite as she could but subtly showing her annoyance and luke's immaturity.

"well then, my question was'if you could describe emily dickenson for us so the class can better understand the derivation of the emotions and style of writing that she does. maisy, I repeated the question but i will have you know that in no way should mr. hemmings be a distraction whatsoever as your comfort in your seat should not change the fact that your focus should be on the topic being discussed. one more time and you have after school detention." mr. alex firmly, clear in his tone that he was dead serious.

maisy gulped. she didn't want this. especially since she hasn't spent at least a school year in this school. other than that, stacy [a/n her mom] and her dad, will be disappointed in her. "i apologize sir. uhm... If I recall correctly, emily dickenson was an introvert." she began.

"sounds familiar..." luke muttered, snickering under his breath.

She glared at him from the corner of her eye and wanted to kick luke's face but she remained calm and continued, "she wore white clothing on a daily basis and was never fond of going outside her room, where she made a collection of now famous poems, to the extent that even her parents spoke to her through means of writing. her house was also situated beside a cemetery which could have also contributed to some of her more morbid works."

"thank you maisy. that was a wonderful explanation. you may now take a seat."

"awe! llad to know that i overtake the lesson in that over sized brain of yours." luke grinned at maisy once again.

"shut up." she said trying her best to avoid luke.

"wonder what other thoughts of me you could be having up there." luke said as he pretended to take down notes.

but as cocky and calm as Luke was, she was fed up. "you know what i have-" maisy's voice raised

"naise calm down..." ashton said, frantically looking at mr. alex and at the both of them at the same time, finally joining in the conversation.

"no! i've had enough of this spoiled, immature, ignorant, stupid excuse of a hum-"

"that's it! detention! both of you! go to the principal's office after my class to get your slips."

"but mr. alex, please, i've never gotten detention for disruption in class! hell, i've never even been late once!" maisy said trying to convince the english teacher but failing miserably seeing as mr. alex ignored her and continued on with the discussion.

luke, too, tried convincing mr. alex but failed as well. It seemed like mr. alex wasn't fazed by the bullshit excuses both maisy and luke said even if maisy was telling the truth. meanwhile, the entire class was looking at them. some were whispering, some were giggling and others were shaking their heads in either disapproval or amusement.

maisy sighed. this is her first year in this school and she's just gotten herself detention. plus, people in class were bound to spread the newest commotion which will result to both their reputations tarnished. as if maisy cared about her reputation but then again, she just wanted to be a nobody but so far, it isn't happening at all. nice.

the next few minutes was spent with luke still trying to annoy maisy like getting a detention didn't seem to mind him and maisy trying to think of ways as to how to tell her mom that she got detention.
