Piper sighed softly, sitting on the lake alone. She had first lost Percy, then Jason disappeared. Followed by Frank, then ending with Annabeth, her best friend, who next? The seven were slowly getting affected, and she feared she'd lose Leo or Hazel before herself. Little did she know, or anyone else, she was in fact next.
A few feet from Piper, Nico sat alone, softly crying. He was tired of being scared, then losing his friends, one by one. Nico stared out into the lake, the waves seeming to move slower than usual. Poseidon was grieving as well, because he too, didn't know where Percy was.
Piper saw Nico sitting alone, hesitantly walking over, cuddling him in a gentle, but reassuring hug. "You upset too? I'm sorry you seem to be affected by this most." She whispered into his ear.
"First I witness Percy turn evil with promises to avenge me, then Jason kisses me, disappearing seconds after. Then Frank and Annabeth both tried unsuccessfully killing me. Can't anything good happen to the people I love happen just once?" Nico sobbed into her arms.
"I agree. Bad things come from love huh?" Piper muttered, holding Nico tighter. She listened to him break in her arms, feeling all his heartbreak and sorrow, being a child of Aphrodite after all.
"It's not fair! I'm fed up with all my bad luck, can't it disappear for once?" Nico cried, cuddling into her arms. He'd been making progress, for the past month, the only person who could reassure him had been Leo, but now he felt safe and reassured in the arms of Piper McLean as well.
"Will it ever truly disappear Nico? Will it?" Piper asked softly, kissing his head, in a friendly way of course, humming a soft tune. She listened to his calming heart, wishing this all to be all but a dream, alas, this was all way too real for it to be just a little dream.
Nico slowly calmed down, slightly pulling away from Piper. He carefully picked out his words, watching the sun start to set. 'Thanks Apollo. Amazing timing. Just great.' Nico thought sarcastically. "Piper, how are you dealing with Jason's disappearance?" He shakily asked, glancing at the powerful female.
"Honestly, I'm doing as great as you are. I'm doing just peach- oh my gods! That asshole! How dare she!" Piper interrupted herself, seeing Drew break another camper's heart. Fully aware of Nico shaking besides her, she growled as a pink light engulfed her.
"Piper please, don't leave me." Nico shakily pleaded, backing cautiously away from her, knowing he was in fact, too late. He watched as the light faded away, revealing an angrier version of Aphrodite.
"Sorry Nico, it's too late for that." Piper laughed, a dark menacing sound, instead of the light, loving laugh she used to have. Her hair was messier, the traditional braid ceasing to exist. Piper's camp shirt was torn up, scratched with blood and holes.
"Piper! NO!" Piper heard a new voice scream. All of a sudden, Leo Valdez appeared behind her, shielding a trembling Nico. Piper smirked, slowly stepping towards the boys.
"Well, look who decided to stop by." Piper cackled, grabbing Leo by the shirt, smirking as he didn't move, fear visible in his eyes. She leaned down, sending a kiss on his lips, bringing up his most heartbreaking memories, starting with his most painful one yet, his recent breakup with Calypso.
Leo's eyes widened in fear, pulling away. He started helplessly crying, trying to fill his mind with thoughts of his relationship with Nico, trembling noticeably. A faint scream jolted him back to reality, seeing Nico being slowly backed into the water, lead by a taunting Piper.
"Leo! S-Stay away from me Piper. Please, it's me. N-Nico." Nico pleaded, the waves sounding closer now. He risked a glance behind him, screaming once more when he saw he only had a few seconds until he was in the water.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps, a magic poof, and Leo carrying him to shore. Nico trembled in Leo's arms from fear, calming down when he felt familiar warm lips, on his cold, pale lips.
When Leo pulled away from Nico, Piper was nowhere to be seen, disappearing just like the others, without anyone knowing where she was. Nico shakily brought a hand to his mouth, letting the tears fall, not making a sound. The couple stayed on the shore that night, cries and waves mixed into the night.

I also know you all want to kill me right now for suddenly bringing the two together, but what I forgot to mention last chapter is that, Leo and Nico started dating after their night in the infirmary with Will. Caleo broke up three weeks before Percy turned in case you were wondering. Calypso dumped him in front of the whole camp, by throwing a necklace he had just made for her, running away from the camp during lunch. Okay, BYE NOW!
