Inside was the biggest party I'd ever seen. There were chocolate fountains the size of real fountains. There were banquets of food which were surrounded by smarty dressed kids. At the top of the room sat a girl who had to be Phoenix -the same piercing golden eyes- with red square glasses and dress, on a golden throne, looking thoroughly uncomfortable. Standing next to her was who had to be Phantom in an extremely short silver dress, her pale blue eyes fixed on the others. People danced to music of a live orchestra, but the orchestra was one very peculiar guy. He looked pretty normal, except for the extra pair of arms coming out his back like wings. To make things worse, these extra arms were covered in mouths, making the exact noises of the instruments in the song.

He wasn't the only strange one, though. I passed a girl with four legs -two at the front, to at the back- conversing with a girl with flesh colored butterfly wings in fast French accents. An burly African boy with silvery hands was dancing with a little girl whose eyes changed color with her facial expressions. And one boy was transforming into the other freaks around him as they passed. Freaks. That's what they were. Freaks. But I suppose that made me a freak too. It's not like their were any other people who could control gravity.

Suddenly, I was on the floor with the silver handed boy's foot digging in between my shoulder blades. His  hands clamped around my wrists, which felt like metal, pulled me up and dragged me away from the dance floor. The little girl followed him, her eyes ruby red,  angry. We were in a dark corridor, illuminated only by flickering light bulbs casting foreboding shadows over their faces. I struggled but even with one hand (that seemed to have molded  into handcuffs) he overpowered me.

"Thanks for dancing with me, Jonny. My brothers would of if they weren't busy making people's lives difficult," said the girl, before simultaneously kneeing me in the stomach. Her tiny knees were really sharp!
"It's okay, Amelia. But what are we going to do with this idiot?"
"No idea. I'd never known a normal sneak in before; usually they're too afraid."
"But I'm not normal!" I interrupted, receiving another knee to the stomach.
"Ultimate, physical or mental?"
"What?"
"Is your skill ultimate, physical or mental? Duh!" I had to think about that a while; what would I define my skill as? I didn't have a visible thing like his hands or her skin. And I couldn't describe it as mental. I did have ultimate control of gravity, though.
"Ultimate?" I responded, preparing to be crushed by  his metal fist, but Jonny looked scared.
"Amelia, go get Rivers," Amelia ran off, and Jonny was left alone with me.

The silence was eerie and tense until Amelia returned, eyes a stormy grey, followed by another boy. He had pale blue hair and eyes, and an impish face. His skin was tanned like the guy got to spend all his time on the beach, which would explain why he was shirtless, wearing blue shorts and sandals. He just had this laid back attitude that seemed to make the dark corridor less dingy. He looked me up and down like a school bully would, looking for the best way to bring the pain.  But he also looked at me kindly, as though he was looking for the potential

"Hi, I'm Rivers. What about you?" he asked me offering out his hand, which I shook uncertainty.
"I'm..." I couldn't decide whether to give them my real name or not. Rule number one of being a superhero; never give your name. But I wasn't really a superhero any more, "I'm Newton."
"You mean that super chump that's always on the news in the background?"
"That was uncalled for."
"Come on, what's your real name? Don't make me use my powers." As much as I wanted to keep it a secret, I really did not want to find out what this guy could do.
"It's Isaac."
"What's your power, Isaac?"
"What's yours?" I blurted, regretting it immediately. I used to do that whenever someone asked me questions until they left me alone, it was just easier. But with this guy, his laid back attitude was hiding something.

"You wanna see my power, sure, but your gonna regret it." He put his hands up ,palms out, and closed his eyes. I could see Amelia backing away and Jonny trying to too. Suddenly, Rivers's hands began to glow blue and jets of freezing water shot out of them. They hit my face, feeling like a thousand tiny daggers. I spluttered as the water choked  and blinded me. Eventually they died out, but not after giving me a good soaking, "Power, now!" Scared of another ice bath, I raised my hands and everything in the corridor floated to the ceiling. Amelia's eyes shone purple, gaping in awe. Jonny too looked amazed. Rivers ,however, looked unfazed, "Sorry about that, sometimes people's powers only respond to pressure. I hope we can be friends, you could be in my room!"

A shout echoed down the corridor, followed by more. Startled, everything dropped to the ground as two more people came charging towards us. The girl, who was floating, was trying to calm down the boy whose face was livid. She had mint green hair and hazel eyes that shone with defiance. Winds swept through the corridor as she came. I couldn't help but look at her. The boy had blond hair and gold eyes, just like the Phoenix's. He must of been two years younger than me but still had me by the neck against the wall the minute he got to us. Our faces were inches away from each other.

"What do you want?! How dare you put my family in danger?!" he whispered, seething with anger. It tried to lift my arms, to get away, but when I looked down ivy vines were
wrapped round my arms and legs. His hand tightened around my neck, choking me.
"Sam, please! You're choking him!" cried the girl, holding out her hands. I felt winds trying to pull me away from the walls, but the ivy held strong.
"Gail, he put us all in danger! He's with the heroes! They'll find us! And you know where they'll take us!" he shouted back, fear flashing across his angry eyes.
"Then why hasn't he?! He wasn't trying to do anything!"
"She...she's right... Ditching heroes... Treated me like nothing... Want to join you," I said, struggling for breath. He dropped me, leaving me gasping for breath like a fish out of water.
"Okay, I'll see what Day thinks tomorrow but for now let's try and keep you out her way. But this doesn't mean I trust you."

"Well, well, well; a sidekick gone rogue," Phoenix leaned against the wall, sizing me up, "You can't hide anything from me, brother."
