"Adam!" You yelled, running up and jumping on my back.

I fell flat on my face, good thing we were inside, with carpet instead of concrete.

I stood up, this time with you on my back.

"I finished," you said.

"Your period?" I asked.

You swatted me. "No smartass, my book."

"You finished another page?"

You did this at least twice day when you finished writing a page, well you didn't jump on my back that was new.

"No," you said.

"A chapter?" I asked.

"The final chapter."

I slid you off my back. "You finished the entire book?" I asked.

You nodded excitedly.

"Cool," Josh said.

"Josh this is Ella," I said. "El this is Josh my asshole of a roommate."

"How long have you been working on your book?" he asked.

"Junior year," you said.

He opened his mouth to comment.

"Of high school," you added.

His eyes widen. "Damn. That's a really long time."

You shrugged. "Five years isn't really that long," you said. "Especially when you finally finish."

"We should celebrate," I said. "I don't think the coffee shop will cut it."

"Great," you said, walking backward. "Tonight?"

"On me," I called.

"You say that like I wasn't going to make you pay already," you called, turning around and walking forward.

"I like her," Josh said.

I sighed as I looked at your retreating back. "Me too."

---

"You brought me to a fucking strip club?" I ask Josh.

He already has someone on his lap.

"I have no regrets!" he says.

I roll my eyes at him.

"Can someone help out my friend?" he asks. "If you are blonde or have blue eyes don't bother."

A brunette with green eyes saunters over to me.

"What do you what?" she asks.

I down a shot. "To forget."
