"Hey babe," I greeted you.

"Good morning," you said, trudging into my kitchen wearing only my t-shirt.

We had been dating since December it was August. We had graduated three months ago.

"It's four in the afternoon," I replied.

You waved me off.

"Breakfast?" You half asked half demanded, sitting down.

"Do not provoke wild creatures," Josh said.

You flipped him off.

I put a bowl of yogurt in front of you.

"Moving?" You asked.

"No," I said and rearranged the blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. "Move in?"

"Lord help us all," Josh said.

To spite him you pressed your lips to mine.

"Try not to get STD on the table," he said, leaving the dining room.

---

I look up at the apartment building we had lived in. I don't even need to count to find our apartment. Eight-oh-seven.

A wrecking ball swung one, twice.

Boom.

Half the building comes crumbling down.

I watch as our apartment is split wide open.

Remembering how you holed up in the dining room for hours just writing. How sometimes I would join you to write a script or searching for jobs doing short films.

Or our late night talks when we couldn't fall asleep and we'd just talk until the sun went up.

Or sleeping together. And I mean actually sleeping with my arms around your body cocooning you in because I wanted—I needed— to protect you from the world.

The wrecking ball swings again and the apartment is no longer existent.
