His eyes were sparkling snowflakes,
Always different with each blink.
His hair was black as winter's night,
The glossy shine of spilt ink.
"Who wouldn't fall in love with him?"
My innocent heart thought.
But down by the turquoise lake,
His eye, by another face, was caught.
Never had he felt true love,
Until he looked into that water,
Those icy eyes betook him more,
Than any courtier's daughter.
Skin glistening with the afternoon dew,
Those lips he so endeared,
But when he reached to touch those lips,
His love had disappeared.
One finger to the glassy surface,
That handsome face was gone.
One leap towards the horizon,
And my love dove in head-on.
For a ripple on frozen water,
Never kept a man from himself.
Who needs another in heaven
When you can love yourself?
While you pined for your reflection,
You couldn't help but see,
That my unspoken love for you,
Would die along with me.
For I can say not but a word,
Lest what it is I hear.
I'm fated to repeat; I am,
The Echo that kisses your ear.
I would dive in a lake for you any day.
I would dive each and every time.
We're both in love with the same broken man.
Both caught in the same paradigm.
