Snow-Globe

I reckon I was born with a broken heart,

Two split scarlet halves cleaved eons apart.

I know I am destined for conquering mountains,

Playing hopscotch on stars, drinking oceans like fountains.

I'm imprisoned in a cage of my own timidity,

Begging every god for some sense of validity.

Falling backwards in this state purple of lucidity,

Breathing in doubt just to cure this lividity.

Through tsunami and typhoon, my ship rocked at sea,

Sails tattered and maimed, mast naught but debris,

Will yet voyage on, my spirit the key,

For I'll not be broken by such triviality.

My eyes into crystallized icy glass stare,

See a shattered soul caught between love and despair,

In conversation, my conscious is but a nightmare,

Marring my worldview with a gray ashen glare.

For I'm trapped in a snow globe, where all I can see,

Is a distorted, cracked image of what must be me.

Yet my mind flourishes, visions soar high,

Unshackling my wishes,

First bitten,

Last shy.
