The noises of footsteps and murmurs filled my ears as soon as I stepped into school grounds. Everyone looked so happy, but i didn't care. I never desired attention, and that's a fact.
I walked slowly but surely to my locker, carrying my heavy school bag like my life depended on it. As soon as I got to my locker, I input the code, and it swung open. I put inside everything that was unnecessary for the next subject.
It's been 2 weeks since school started. The first period of the day was Science, and I walked to the Science room on the second floor. As soon as I stepped in the classroom, I noticed I was the first one there.
I took my seat located by the corner at the last row, put my arm on the table to support my head as I stared at the doorway waiting for everyone else to come in.
I checked my watch, which stated that there was 8 minutes left before class started. Once I put my arm down, my classmates started to crowd in and took their seats. Some stood up and approached their friends who sat someplace else.
I diverted my attention from the room back to my watch, which stated 6 minutes left. I pulled my arm off the table and my head slammed onto it, and I let out a deep sigh.
Suddenly, I felt two taps on my right shoulder. At first, I thought it was my imagination, so I didn't pay attention to it, until I felt them again. I slowly lifted my head up to see who or what it was. A girl with her dark hair tied in a ponytail with purple eyes stood before me, and I immediately knew she was a new student.
How? Well I have two reasons. First, nobody in the school talks to me ever. Second, I never saw her before, and I memorized every face in campus.
"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" She asks me as she pointed at the seat on my right.
Did you know that nobody also sits beside me? Yeah I thought so. There are more seats than students in the class so you could find a lot of empty seats.
"No" I answered, straight forward and simple.
"Oh ok, mind if I sit here?" She asks with a smile.
I don't know if that smile is supposed to mean anything.
"Sure" I answered, and I didn't want to be rude so I just kept myself from saying "whatever".
"Thank you!" She says as she takes the seat next to me.
I glance at her, and she seamed like a really...
Weird girl
Her attitude isn't like the other students I'll give her that, but I'm getting a vibe from her that screamed out: "do not mess with me".
Great... even more weird...
I diverted my focus away from her and put my arms under my head for comfort. Then I felt those two taps on my right shoulder again. I lift my head up again, feeling her annoyed.
"What?" I asked,
"I forgot to introduce myself, my name's Asami" She says with a smile.
"I'm Kayden" I say in a soft tone,
"Nice to meet you Kayden" she says giving me a brighter (I think that's the right term?) smile and extending her hand towards me.
I was dumbfounded with this gesture. What does it symbolize? What does it mean? Am I supposed to do something to it? I stared at her hand and looked at her every 2 seconds.
"Um... you okay?" She asks.
"Yeah it's just... what the hell am I supposed to do with... that?" I ask while I point at her extended hand.
"You never heard of a handshake before?" She says,
"Um... no... not really" I say,
"Oh, well, just hold out your hand"
I do as she says and extend my right hand towards her, not knowing what to do next. Suddenly she grabs it, and my body (aside from my right arm) jumped in surprise.
"This is a handshake" she says with a smile,
"Um... ok?" I say dumbfounded,
"*laughs* you really are a weird guy Kayden" she teases (or at least, I think she was),
I really wish I could say the same to you, but I hate to be rude...
"From now on, lets be friends okay?" she asks,
This question caught me by surprise, and I really had no idea how to answer it. So I let go of her hand and thought of a response.
"Thanks, but-"
I was interrupted by the teacher suddenly walking in. I immediately diverted my attention away from Asami, and forgot what I was going to say.

Taking a look at my watch, it was 8:54, 6 minutes before the next period. As I was scribbling down notes, I tried to remember what I was going to say, but no luck. It was hard to focus when I could hear the sounds of writing around me.
Once the bell rang which signalled the end of the period, I packed my stuff and rushed out of the room like a madman. I get to my locker, open it and prepare for the next period.
But as soon as I closed my locker-
"Hey Kayden!"
"GAH!"
I scream out as I fall on the ground with a loud "THUD!". Luckily, nobody paid attention cause you know, I'm a nobody. I look at the person who I just wanted to hit in the face right now, then that thought slipped my mind when I saw it was the weirdo, Asami
