Evelyn’s POV

I woke up the next morning and hurriedly headed to the shower. A week after the party had finally gone by and today Rudy was taking me to his brother’s house. I guess I sort of underestimated him. He could be a jerk, like the party night. There was just this other side to him that I barely saw now.

After getting out of the shower I grabbed my dress and put it on. It was a summer dress with thin straps. It had pink and blue blurs all over it, coming up to my knees. Putting on my white flats and fixing my hair I was ready to go. I was super excited because Rudy’s brother had kids! I loved kids, and it had been a while since I have seen some up close.

Running down the stairs I found Rudy with his car keys waiting at the door.

“Let’s go. You don’t want to be late do you?”

We ran to the car and slid in quickly. I watched my window as he drove from street to street.

“You live in a really pretty neighborhood.” I commented.

“WE live in a really pretty neighborhood.” He corrected.

I rolled my eyes at him and he smiled. I realized that my arguing with him had subsided. It must be because I was excited about the little kids. What other reason could it be? He stopped the car slowly in front of a homey looking house. It was big, obviously, with a nice looking front yard. It wasn’t as big as Rud…I mean our house, but it was still nice.  We got out of the car and Rudy opened the small white gate letting himself in.

“Come on.” I hesitated at first but decided to follow him. He rang the doorbell and I could hear tiny footsteps running to the door.

“Mommy help!” I heard a small voice call from inside. Then the door burst open. There in front of us was who I guessed to be Rudy’s brother. He was about an inch or two taller than Rudy. He had blonde short hair, while Rudy had brown messy hair. Rudy had bluish greenish eyes, while his brothers’ was just pure blue.

“Hey there.” He smiled at me. “Come in make yourself at home.”

I walked in and smelled the delicious aroma of someone who can obviously cook up a mean breakfast. Taking my seat on the sofa Rudy followed and set himself by me. I looked around and realized that there were two pairs of eyes looking straight back at us.

“Madeline and James get over here.” Their dad called them over. The two kids came over and crowded around his legs.

“It’s your uncle Rudy, don’t you remember him.”

The girl smiled and ran to Rudy’s lap. She crawled up to his ear and whispered something in it. Rudy laughed and looked at me.

“This is Aunt Evelyn. She is really nice.” Madeline shied back into Rudy’s arms.

“Is she as nice as you?” I could barely make out what she said.

        “Even nicer.”

“That’s not possible!” James walked up to Rudy and looked up at him. Rudy smiled and sets him on his lap. “But, she is really pretty.” James continued turning around he winked  ' at me. I could see Rudy trying to hold in his laugh. He was so still a teenage boy and he was enjoying the fact that his nephew winks at girls.

        “I know, isn’t she?”

“Yep, she’s really working that dress.” My mouth dropped at this comment. I could see that Rudy’s brother was taken aback too and he grabbed his son scolding him and sending him to a time out.
