Evelyn’s POV
Jake took me out to the best restaurant even. It was delicious Chinese. We got to continue our funny conversations. I must say he took my mind off of Rudy, but only for a little while. When we left the restaurant I just thought of him again and Jake saw that something was wrong.
“Still thinking of him?” He asked stopping in front of the car and not getting in.
“Is it that obvious?” I asked trying not to meet his eyes. Jake left his side of the car and walked over to me where he gave me a huge hug. I was surprised by it at first so I didn’t hug back, but I quickly embraced him once I realized how much I needed a hug.
“It’s going to be alright.” He whispered in my ears and then let go of me. Once he let go I wanted to tackle him right back into the hug again but I held back knowing that I couldn’t do that.
I smiled, “ Thanks.” Was all I could mumble out of my mouth before I dropped my gaze away from his eyes and back to the floor. I heard him sigh and then take his hand and put it to my chin where he lifted my face up to his. I obediently moved my face along to where his fingers took me and stared back into his eyes.
“Evelyn. Don’t worry about it. I never want to see you upset. This is the worst state I have ever seen you in and it’s not worth it. I am sure Rudy is fine, but I know you probably won’t get any sleep tonight, so I am going to stay up with you. And we are going to call our little Rudy until he picks up okay!” he smiled and his eyes lit up.
“Okay.” I let out in almost a whisper. He was incredibly sweet. No guy had ever offered to stay up with me before just so I could call some other guy.
“Alright then, get into the car and then we can go anywhere you want to go.” He told moving me out the way of the door and opening it for me.
“I want to go to me dorm.” I told him as I took my seat in the car.
He closed my door and rushed to the driver seat. He smiled to me before starting the car and pulling out of the parking. Putting on the radio to try and ease the tension he asked me what station I wanted. When I didn’t answer he purposely put on a hard rock metal station. He had told me that it was his favorite genre and he had told me that it was my least favorite. He smirked at me and I stuck my tongue out. But it did make me laugh.
“You jerk.” I pouted putting my arms across my chest and trying to keep from smiling.
“What?” He began innocently, “I thought you loved this kind of music.”
“Yep! As much as you love slow music!” I said, and I couldn’t hold back my laughter.
“Hey, not cool.” He said playfully. He had told me that he secretly liked slow songs, but he just always listened to rock songs because people wouldn’t take him seriously if he didn’t. I just smiled at him and changed the station to something that had more slow songs. Jake started singing along to the song and I burst out laughing.
“You’re just having so much fun laughing at me today aren’t you?” he said playfully.
“Why yes I am.” I kept laughing and he continued singing. The song Notice me by David Archuleta came on and I screamed.
“Are you okay?” he asked concerned.
“I love this song!” I let him know.
