Evelyn’s POV

“I swear I will get you.” Rudy screamed after me as I ran. We were in at the park and I tried finding a place to run too but the grass in front didn’t feel as welcoming. I just kept going in circles hoping to tire him but the only person that was getting tired was me.

“No you won’t!” I yelled back trying not to waist my breath that I obviously needed. In a matter of second I was dropped to the ground by someone who had tackled me. “Get off you jerk!” I giggled as he only let me shift in place so that I was facing him.

          “Not a chance.” Rudy smirked.

“Fine you caught me! Are you happy?” I raised one eyebrow looking at him.

“Not yet, something’s missing.” Rudy said pretending to be deep in thought.

“Oh ya, and what is that?” I asked teasingly poking his chest. He looked back down at me and smiled.

“Confession.” He said with a smile.

“Not happening.” I coughed and he laughed.

“I guess we are going to stay down here for a while then aren’t we.” He threatened me.

“I don’t mind that.” I tried showing him that it didn’t matter, but it did the little kids around us were looking at us like we were crazy and the parents were disgusted.

“Just say it Evelyn.” Rudy begged.

“Watever, you were right.” I huffed.

“And…” Rudy eyes glistened wanting more.

          “I was wrong.” I mumbled.

“What did you say?” He asked louder, “I’m sorry I couldn’t hear that.”

I frowned and punched his chest, “I was wrong you idiot now get off of me.” I snapped at him. He laughed and then lightly kissed my lips before getting up and helping me.

“Are you having fun over there on the ground?” Nathaniel came with Mia in his hands towards us. Mia hit him on his arm like she always did when he said something stupid.

“Oh shush. Let them be happy.” Mia winked at me.

I felt myself blush but Rudy only brought himself behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist leaning his head on my shoulder and planting a quick peck on my cheek. “Yep, this girl finally spoke the truth for once.” He laughed and I was going to turn around and push him when I saw Jake coming towards us.

“Are we going to get the barbeque going or not?” He smiled at me and Rudy. He was so sweet, honestly the best friend I had ever had. Don’t get me wrong I love Mia, but there was something different with Jake.

“Rudy, Nathaniel go help Jake. We all know how amazing you cooks can be.” I laughed remembering our first thanksgiving dinner we had together. Nathaniel and Rudy shook their heads while Mia and Jake gave us confused looks.

“Hey my potatoes were the bomb okay.” Nathaniel told me before letting go of Mia’s hand and following Rudy and Jake. I smiled at the two guys looking at Jake like he was some sort of foreign alien when he showed them how to start it up.

Mia came to me and wrapped her arm around mine as we walked to sit on the bench, “Isn’t he just a cutie pie!” she sighed. I felt myself want to puke a little. No, Nathaniel wasn’t a cutie pie. Never was never will be, but he is my best friends fiancé so I can’t say otherwise.
