I quietly trailed after my father and Lucifer, keeping to the shadows. I looked to the sky and saw that it was dimly lit by the stars and the moon was hidden behind the dark gray clouds. The cold breeze blew past me and I shivered, strands of my hair blowing in my face. I glanced back and saw nothing but tall bushes. I focused my attention yet again to the front and saw my dad and Lucifer take a sharp turn in the darkness. I stealthily followed them, not making a sound.

A chill ran through me. I stopped in my tracks and let my father and Lucifer continue on, they didn’t seem to notice that I was no longer following. The air around me grew colder and I could see my breath in front of me. I stood frozen with fear, trying to stop myself from remembering what happened many years ago.

“Shaitan…” The voice that had haunted me year after year said, dragging my name.

I peered around, my breath getting caught in the back of my throat. My body was shaking now, not from the overwhelming coldness that had enveloped me, but fear. I could hear my heart beating loudly in my chest. My body felt numb.

“Shaitan…” The voice repeated my name, coming closer.

I closed my eyes, trying to make it go away. This could not be happening, this could not be happening, I thought in my head, trying to get my feet to move and run.

“…come to me.” The voice continued, I could feel it’s breath on my neck.

I refused to open my eyes, this was not happening. I held my breath, not daring to exhale.

“Come to me, Shaitan.” The voice said softly, now in front of me, luring me to it.

I shook my head no. Still I kept my eyes securely shut. It hissed at me. I dared to breathe and inhale the cold air. It smelt of rotting flesh and ash.

“You’re mine, Shaitan. You’ll always be. You belong to me.” It said.

Something began to touch me, its fingers trailing up and down my arm. I shivered at its burning touch and yet the air that surrounded us had dropped several degrees. A sensation ran through my body.

“Open your eyes.” It said, hissing. “Look at me.”

I forced myself to disobey it, but I was losing. Its hold over me was becoming too great and I felt myself giving in to its command. My eyes slowly began to open and I could feel its pleasure at my obedience.
