Hello Everyone,

I really hope you are having a good weekend :-) I really hope you enjoy this chapter and it's dark and sinister feel :-)

Poor Eve.................

...................................................................................................................................................................

Stare at my heart and watch it turn black, black as the night and as cold as blue ice.

Eve's eyes left the book as the door opened slowly. Turning, she saw a maid standing in the doorway. Dressed in a black gown with a white apron and white headband. She curtsied and smiled at Eve, her face was pale and her lips were the color of dark red cherries.

Her blonde hair was pushed off her face in a harsh bun. As she stood up, she brushed herself down.

"My Lady,My Lord has asked me to be your personal maid,If there is anything that you need then please let me know"

She smiled again but Eve felt herself instantly be put on edge.

"There is a library. Do you want me to show you it?"

Eve looked at the leather bound book in her hand.

"No it's okay.If there is anything that I need, I will let you know."

The maid turned to go but stopped.

"The Lord has told me to tell you that dinner will be at 7 and we will be having company. So I will make sure your dressed accordingly"

Her eyes flicked up and down at Eve's attire. Eve felt her cheeks redden slightly.

Why did she have to stay here?

She gave a smile and watched as the maid disappeared. Flinging the book down on the bed she sat down and put her head in her hands.

Eve stood in front of the golden floor length mirror. She looked and felt like a doll, never had she worn such extravagant clothing.    A long white gown fell to the floor hiding her golden shoes. In her hair that had been intricately braided into a knot, was white feathers  and small  white calla lily's.

She looked like a different person a person who suited London society but she felt extremely uncomfortable. Around her neck was a simple necklace that had been her mothers, she fingered it nervously as the maid appeared again.

"The master and the guests are waiting"

Eve took a deep breath and walked out of the room and down the hallway towards the stairs, walking down the long staircase she heard talking and laughing coming from the drawing room.

Stopping outside the door, the maid opened it standing back to let her in.

She passed and entered the room. Flurries of smoke filled the air as smartly dressed gentlemen  were relaxing in the velvet plush armchairs.

A lady lounged on the sofa draped in pearls. She waved a black fan lazily in her hand so her blonde locks fluttered in the breeze. Her hair pinned up with ornate jewels, sparkled in the light from the small table lamp by the sofa. She was wearing a midnight blue gown. As Eve walked in she turned her head slowly, her dark black kohl eyes surveying Eve up and down.

"Sister"

Eve's eyes  fell onto Edmund who was sitting cross legged  in one of the chairs closest to the fireplace. He smiled kindly and stood up as the men all turned to her.

"This is my sister"

He came forward and put his hand on the small of her back, making her step forward, so she was in the middle of the party. All eyes were upon her and she felt herself redden.   The woman's eyes flashed for a moment and her cheeks flushed, the fan slowing to an almost stop as her gaze lingered on the contact between Eve and her brother.
