The Beatles: A Mini-series

Starrison (1969)

"Hey Ringo I brought you a sandwich I made at home," George smiled as he handed his best mate a cheese, lettuce, and tomato sandwich.
"Thanks George," Ringo smiled.
  Ringo was on the set of his movie "The Magic Christian" and George decided to bring his buddy a sandwich and eat along with him. Ringo motioned George over and they sat at a table.
  "This is delicious George!" Ringo exclaimed as he took a bite.
   George blushed. "Thanks Ringo. How's your day so far?" He asked as he took a bite of the egg-salad curry sandwich he decided to try out. He had found the recipe from a magazine.
  "Oh ya know, it's been alright. It's just one of those days where one scene is taking hours. I know you know what that feels like." He said with a chuckle.
  George smiled and thought back to when they filmed A Hard Days Night. He remembered the long hours on set, but also the fun he had with his best mates, especially Ringo. On really long days, the would get out the old card deck and play a game. He cherished those memories, despite the hard ships the Beatles are going through.
  "How's your day been?" Ringo asked, pulling George out of his day dream.
  "Huh? Oh-oh it was shitty at first."
  "Yoko problems?"
  "You know me so well."
  Ringo chuckled. "What did the witch do this time."
  "Oh you mean the bitch?" George scoffed, shaking his head. "She sat on my amp again. She looked right at me, and took a seat with her bony ass. I swear to Krishna, Ringo, if she does it again, I might have to fight her. I mean, she's manly looking enough for me to not feel bad."
Ringo placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. "It'll be okay, George. Something has to change soon. Maybe John will see-"
  "You know he won't Ringo."
  "Well you're here with me now. You don't need to worry about her. Want me to take you around the set?"
George smiled. "Yes. I would like that."
  "Groovy." They finished their sandwiches, and got up. They were filming the scene where Ringo and Peter Sellers go the paint auction. Pete stood talking to a producer about his lines. He turned and saw Ringo and waved.
   "Hey Ringo, come over here real quick."
  Ringo looked at George apologetically and walked over to Peter. As they discussed, George studied Ringo. He always thought Ringo's mustache looked good on him when he decided to grow one in '67 with the rest of the guys. He has also been digging Ringo's shaggy hair. And of course George loved those ocean blue eyes. He looked at Ringo and thought about every good time they've had together.
  A few minutes later, Ringo and Peter walked back to George.
  "George, have you ever met Peter before?" Ringo asked.
   "I haven't." George stuck out his bony hand. "It's nice to meet you; I'm George."
  Peter smiled and firmly shook George's hand. "Peter. Nice to meet you too, Mr. Harrison."
   "Oh please, my students call me Mr. Harrison. My friends call me George," he joked. All of them laughed.
   "Hey Ringo, I'm going to go grab lunch. I'll see you In about 20 minutes." Peter said.
   "Alright, see ya then." Peter walked off to the food table.
   "He's a cool guy." Ringo commented. "C'mon, now I'll give you a tour."
  For about 15 minutes, Ringo took George around to different sets, and introduced him to some of the cast and crew. Then, he realized he had to go back to finish filming for the day.
   "Shit, I have to go back." Ringo said disappointed.
   "Oh, alright."
   "Hey, thanks for stopping by. And for the sandwich. It was great."
"Yeah, no problem. I had fun today. It definitely took my mind off of what happened at the studio."
   Ringo gave George a hug. "That's good. See ya later George." Ringo said as he smiled at his buddy. George said good bye and walked off, happy that he went to see Ringo. It had almost made him forget about the whole incident of that morning, and he was glad it was Ringo who helped.
