Rydel POV
“You ready for the surprise?” Dan asked me covering my eyes. Dan is my boyfriend. Yes! My first boyfriend! He’s good with the guitar and also writes music when he has time to spare. That’s why I fell for him.
“Yes!” I yelled hearing some laughter behind me. I can tell those belong to my brothers. He let’s go and tickets to a cruise flash before my eyes. “Oh thank you!!” I jumped and hugged him. “My uncle gave me these and figured out you want to experience a cruise trip,” he said
“And the best part is, we’re all going!” Rocky exclaimed waving his hands in the air. I laughed at the silliness of my brothers and gave Dan a kiss on the cheek. “No lips?” he pouted. Although he’s my boyfriend now, I still don’t have a first kiss yet. We’ve been together for less than a month and I don’t want to go that fast.
“You know the rules,” I answered grabbing the tickets and started to count them. “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight?” I asked looking at him. “You, me, Riker, Rocky, Ross, Ryland, Ratliff and Kelly,” he smiled so wide that I couldn’t see his eyes.
“Why mention our name?” Ratliff asked joining us by the pool with Kelly beside him. “Cruise trip!” I grinned showing them the tickets. Kelly jumped and hugged me and I hugged back. “Wait. I’m invited right?” she asked pulling away.
“Of course you are!” I yelled excitedly and hugged her again. “Girls,” all the boys said in unison and started to cover their ears. I rolled my eyes on them and looked at the tickets. I have the best boyfriend ever!

“Is your bag already here Delly?” Riker asked on the driveway beside our van. “Yes! I already gave it to Ross,” I answered and hurried downstairs. I went outside to find that we’re almost complete. Kelly and Ratliff are the only ones who aren’t here.
“Where are they?” I asked looking at Rocky. “Ratliff said they’ll be here any second now…Oh here they are,” he answered pointing on two jogging teens towards us. “Sorry we’re late,” Ratliff said panting trying to catch his breath. Riker and the others helped Ratliff put their luggage inside.
It’s a 1 week cruise so we have really large bags to carry our clothes with and so, we found ourselves squeezed to each other on the ride to the ship. “Dan you on the passenger’s seat,” Riker announced making me sit beside Ratliff.
“It’ll be a long drive so…yeah,” Riker said starting the van. How far is it anyway? After almost an hour of driving I can’t help but to catch some shut eye so I rested my head on the window.
I felt a hand turning my head and a shoulder to lay it with. Since I’m really sleepy I just let myself rest on whoever’s shoulder it is.
“Hey Delly…Rydel,” Ratliff whispered shaking his shoulders. I mumbled and lifted my head to come face to face with him. We were only inches away from each other and I suddenly felt my heart beat faster and my cheeks going red. “We’re here,” he smiled. I smiled in return and got off the van to stretch my body.
“What do you think?” Dan asked wrapping his arms around my waist. I saw a big ship with fancy lights on the deck and it’s just breathtaking. “Thank you!” I hugged him and we all went to get our bags checked and our rooms.
“You and Kelly get one room,” Riker said handing us the keys. “Sorry but mom and dad told me to avoid accidents,” he laughed. Kelly and I rolled our eyes on my brother and went inside to organize our things. Ratliff and Dan get the same room while Ryland and Ross shares and also Riker and Rocky just like they do back in our house.
“Where are you going?” Kelly asked sitting on her bed. “I need to give something to Riker. Be right back,” I smiled and she smiled back “Then I’ll just go to the deck and check what’s up here,” she answered. Kelly was a really good friend of mine, and she really is nice. Ratliff is so lucky to have her.
“Riker?” I knocked on their room just to be answered with silence. “Looking for them?” Ratliff said making me jump. “Don’t do that!” I exclaimed putting my hand on my chest. “Sorry,” he said laughing. “Him and Rocky went to check some activities we can do tomorrow,” he added. I was about to answer him when thunder stroked the clouds. I covered my ears and the ship started to move back and forth real fast.
“What’s happening?!” I yelled cause rain started pouring hard and Ratliff had to hold me to prevent me from falling. “Where’s Kelly?” he asked me with a worried face. “She’s on the deck!” I answered and we both ran avoiding the crowd of people who were running around. This storm is really strong and the waves are getting bigger every minute.
“Kelly!!” Ratliff shouted while holding my arm. I became worried on Dan too. I haven’t seen him around. Where could he be? I just hope he’s safe. “Isn’t that her?!” I pointed out on the girl who’s standing with a guy. The guy looked familiar and as Ratliff and I got closer, I realized its Dan. But wait! What in the world are they doing?! Are they KISSING??!
“Ratliff?!” I yelled but with concern on my tone and his grip on my arm tighten. Before I can get an answer from him, he dragged me away from them running faster. A big wave smashed the boat and Ratliff lost his grip on me. “RATLIFF!” I yelled searching for him. I glanced on the water and saw him. I didn’t hesitate and grabbed the raft hanging on the corner and threw it. I was crying and desperate to find some lifesavers but I found nothing.
I jumped on the water and carried Ratliff aboard the raft. The storm was now calming and but I can see the cruise ship sailing away from us. “HEY!!” I yelled at the top of my lungs but got no answer. Ratliff coughed some water out and sat beside me. “Are you okay?” I asked brushing of his wet hair. He gave me a nod for an answer. Now what are we going to do?
