Riker’s POV
“Ross?! Ryland?!” I yelled. The storm that hit us was pretty strong. Well remove the pretty, it is STRONG! “Here!” they both answered in unison and got out of their room. “Where’s Rocky?” Ross asked. I can see the worry on their faces. “He’s okay. He’s searching for Rydel and Ratliff,” I answered. I don’t like this feeling I’m having. My brother senses tell me something was very wrong.
“I can’t find them,” Rocky said panting with tears filling his eyes. I started to run screaming their name. “Any sign of them?” Kelly and Dan approached me. I shook my head and fought the tears that are building up. “Keep searching. I’ll go ask the crew to help us,” I said bravely running.
“We’ll go and get some search parties going,” one of them said inspecting if any lifesavers or raft were used. “Oh no…” he whispered when we’re on the deck. “What?!” I yelled putting my hands on my head in frustration. I have no time for games! My sister and bestfriend are missing!
“There used to be a raft here,” he answered in a low voice. I looked at the corner and saw something familiar. “SHIT!” I grabbed the bracelet my sister wears. Delly’s been here. No! It can’t be!
“We’ll contact the captain immediately and send some rescue and search parties ASAP,” he said tapping my shoulder and ran off. The others join me in frozen looking at the bracelet I’m holding. Tears started to escape my eyes and so does on everyone. I looked up the sky and whispered quietly, “Please be safe Rydel and Ratliff. Please,” I closed my eyes and clenched the bracelet on my hands.
Ratliff’s POV
The last thing I remember was seeing my girlfriend kiss my bestfriend’s boyfriend. My eyesight blacked out and I just kept on running when I heard Rydel screams and water filling my lungs.
I started coughing water out and saw Rydel crying and screaming. “Are you okay?” she asked realizing I’m up. I gave her a nod as raindrops pour on us. “What now?” I asked realizing the ship was disappearing from our eyesight. Rydel was breathing heavily and tears are running down her face.
“Hey,” I hugged her and tried comforting her. She was shaking and kept on crying. “Riker and the others will search every corner of the world to find us. He will,” I said hugging her tightly while stroking her back. The rain seems to stop and the waves are calming down.
“What are we going to do?” she asked between sobs crying on my chest. “First we need to find an island,” I answered glancing hoping for a piece of land. “We’ll be okay. We’re together,” I added clasping her face so she’s facing now. Her eyes are red and puffy with all the crying she’s been doing.
“Thank you Ratliff,” she hugged me again. I didn’t pull back for the fact that we’re both cold and need some warmth on our body. “Let’s try rowing this raft,” I said giving her one of the paddle on the side. I kept close to her feeling her wet clothes on my arm.
There was still light but I can tell that it will be getting dark any minute. I was about to lose hope when Rydel yelled making me jump. “RATLIFF! LAND!”
I looked at where she’s pointing. She’s right! It’s an island! “Paddle!” I said paddling like crazy. “Great eyesight,” I joked getting a smile from her. Now there’s another bright side to the situation. My arms getting tired but we need to get out of the water if we want to survive.
After almost 30 minutes of paddling, we finally got there. Rydel ran and laid on the sand breathing heavily as I pushed the raft out of the water. “Do you know how to make a fire?” she asked joining my side.
“I watched some documentary on it once I think,” I answered and searched for some sticks and found some near a rock. “Hope this works,” I said scratching the sticks together to get some wood shaving out of it. Then I rubbed the shaving on the sticks and rubbed them together. Smoke started coming. “That’s amazing Ratliff!” Rydel exclaimed as I continue until a fire started. I gathered some dry leaves and more sticks to keep it going.
“You think they’ll find us?” Rydel asked with her head on her knees. I removed my shirt and laid it on the big rock not far from us. “Of course they will,” I smiled at her. I need to keep the positive energy on this beach, island, whatever we’re on. “Hey Delly?” I started sitting beside her. Her head was still on her knees and I can tell she’s crying again.
I rested my head on her shoulder making her lift her head. “I need a hug,” I simply said and heard a giggle from her. “Where’s your shirt?” she asked wiping her tears. I pointed on the big rock and she giggled between cries. She lay near the fire I made and I lay beside her. I pulled her near me and hugged her. She didn’t hesitate and hugged me back. We need each other’s warmth now. We are so exhausted that we just drifted off to sleep with our arms around each other.
