What provides the wake up call for the Tern,

irritates the Rook into looking so stern,

inspires the Lapwing's take-off of sheer delight,

the Buzzard's addictive-sailing thermal flight.

Who teaches the Robin to cultivate man's pleasure,

coaxes the Cat in its pursuance of leisure,

teases the Shrew to it's cross reputation,

works out the maths for sustainable predation,

piles up the Leaves for the Blackbird to scatter,

carves out Cliffs whilst fierce Waves batter?

Whispers in the branches of the shivering Aspen tree,

makes the mad Hare cartwheel in undeniable glee,

gives the Donkey the stamina for spectacular kicks?

Where are the building skills of Swallows perfected,

and their glorious returns once winter's rejected.

What furnished the delicate Wren with her enormous voice,

sets fabulous Fruits of infinite choice,

mad the Dog's tail wag with infectious laughter,

enabled Mice to scale the highest rafter?

Gave Wasps architectural knowledge for wood-pulp design,

than coloured the Sunset all shades of iridescent wine?

What makes the Moon in comfort embrace

with fresh crispen blankets the tired human race.

Why do Stars shine so lovingly to please,

and why do they leave when morning Mist coats the trees?

What makes Mountains and Rainbows and Cobwebs awe inspiring

could it be Creation artistry conspiring?

If we knew would it make these things less magic?

Hopefully not, for that would be nothing short of TRAGIC
