*flashback*

Dan had to go to school. He didn't want to though. Not after what happened the day before. He was empty inside. His best friend left him because he liked boys and not girls. Dan deserved it though. At least that's what he thought. Because after what Phil said, he started to believe it. Why would someone so sweet lie about all of those things?

Dan walked into school, his backpack rubbing on his back awkwardly. He kept his eyes firmly planted on the ground, hoping to avoid all human contact. But it was just his lucky day. "Hey fag, little Lester told us about your dirty little secret. Wanna smooch?" The person said from in front of Dan. He looked up through his fringe to see none other than Jake. The asshole who terrorized his high school, looking for unsuspecting victims to attack. Dan was his next target.

Jake and his little gang laughed as Dan walked by, and Dan tried his best to ignore them. But it was hard, especially with all the weird looks he was getting. And with no Phil to make his day brighter, the darkness was starting to surround him and he couldn't escape.

The only good thing that happened was Chris comforting him. Even though Phil left, Chris didn't. He was gay too, so he understood what Dan was going through. He gave Dan a pat on the back and told him a sex joke to make him feel better. Dan laughed as Chris continued to pepper him with sex jokes throughout the day, and it made the darkness fade a little bit. But not enough.

And of course Dan ran into the one Phil Lester himself. He literally ran into him. Dan was minding his own business, walking down the halls to escape this horrid place, when he ran into a solid body. He heard the muttered apologies but froze when he saw the familiar black fringe.

"Oh, it's you." Phil said, giving Dan a hard look. "Why are you doing this Phil? We were best friends." Dan said, his vision blurring from the tears welling up in his eyes. Phil just pushed past Dan, not even looking back. And in that moment, Dan realized he couldn't live anymore.

*end flashback*

Dan had to go to therapy, of course. But Phil was helping much more than any stupid doctor could. Dan got a week off from school to recover, and every day Phil would visit him. Dan started timing Phil to see how fast he could get there. Phil would run through Dan's door eagerly, ready to tell Dan about some weird thing that happened to him. And Dan would just smile and laugh at Phil's smile and weird occurrences.

But soon Dan had to face reality. He couldn't avoid school forever, and he was being forced to go back Monday. But Dan dreaded going back with all fiber of his being. That was the place he started hating himself, and he was afraid that if he went back, he would fall back into that hole. But Phil reassured him that no matter what, he would be there.

So Dan stood in front of the hellhole, Phil standing by his side. Phil glanced at Dan before saying "Are you ready?" Dan studied the building that caused all his pain before looking over to Phil. "As ready as I'll ever be." And with those words, the two lovers walked into school, facing another day filled with hardships, drama, and most importantly, love. 

A/N: Haha I bet you thought I forgot about this story! Well, you'd be right. But I updated it finally, and I know this is crap and that there's a lot of flashbacks, but I promise there will be better things in the future, so don't give up on me yet.
