Chapter 9 - Late Night Ice Cream
Stephie's POV
"Why do live alone?" Oh.
"It's a stupid boring story." I said and digged my hands in my pocket. I was cold.
"Blurt it out already."
"Okay so it was like.. my parents divorced a couple of years ago and they started living separately so me and my sister shifted to New York 'cause we forever wanted to live here."
"Where did you live before?"
"We kept transfering because of my father. I was born in Florida and grew up in England and did middle school in Washington and now I'm finally here in New York."
"Wow." He commented."Where's your sis now?"
"She got engaged half a year ago and now lives with her fiànce here in NYC only."
"And you miss her?" He asked.
"Well kinda yes.. but I don't anymore.. I've grown prone to loneliness." Why did I just say that?
"What about your parents?"
"I still meet my father sometimes but he lives in Florida so I don't really get to meet him and talking about my mom, she remarried."
"And?"
"And what?" I groaned. This is irritating me now. I never open up to anyone about anything but words have been slipping from my mouth since the first time I met him. I can't tell him anything and everything about me.
"Um.. nothin'." He spoke, almost inaudible.
"What about you?" My chance.
"What do you wanna know about me?"
"I.. don't know." I shrugged.
I've always been bad at expressing what I want to ask or to tell.
"I live with my parents and have a simple life, not a complicated one like yours." He said.
"Of course you don't." I rolled my eyes.
"You've got a tattoo?" He is being too observant. I am starting to dislike him.
"Huh?"
"This one." He grabbed my wrist which had that tattoo.
"What does the compass mean?" He just didn't ask that.
Harry's POV
"Nothing." She lied and pulled her wrist back and digged them in the pockets of her jeans.
She's getting on my nerves now. Why doesn't she just answer the questions straight forward?
"What time is it?" I chose to break the silence again after a couple of minutes.
"Fifteen past ten." She took her phone out to look for the time and then rubbed her hands together after keeping it back.
"Are you cold?" I asked.
"Nope." She stuttered.
Fuck it, I know it she wouldn't admit she's cold.
"Here. Put it on." I said, taking out my beanie handing it to her.
"No. It's fine."
"Steph."
"Really Harry. I'm fine."
I pulled it on her head the next second.
"Stop it! I'll look disgusting!" She said, trying to push my hands away and then pulled the beanie down her head.
